Smart profiling on a lever machine
« on: 01/10/2019, 02:06 PM »
Hi everyone

interested to know if anyone of you cool people with a lever had ever considered purchasing something like this to totally impress yourself and friends with real-time pressure-profile monitoring:

https://www.naked-portafilter.com/product/smart-espresso-profiler/

It's kinda got me drooling over a lever and being able to nerd out big time with espresso making  ;D

Thanks, Dan

Wouldn’t work on my machine from the looks. Would work on the pavoni but it’s hardly ideal given the machine is subject to huge temperature instability.

Hi Brett, thanks for that. Do you have another lever in addition to the La Pavoni? ... just sneaking a look at your signature listings

A friend of mine has been considering a La Pavoni as a means to get into the lever world, with its compact size being a big plus for him. So temperature stability is a bit of an issue? Can this be managed with cooling flushes or other tricks? A bit off topic I know ... but what's its steaming ability like?

Thanks, Dan

Ah... lol... yes...  better update that. I have a Quickmill Achille that was tamed/set-up by a brilliant tech here in Brisbane. Despite receiving a green-light for upgrades nothing short of a Slayer enthuses me to move beyond this unit! Even then servicing the Slayer scares the hell out of me because access to qualified service personnel here in Brisbane is a bit of a joke! My regular guy is a brilliant fellow and would have no issues with these types of machines but he’s a very busy retiree so I’ve become adept at changing piston seals, steam wand seals, capacitors etc. on a slayer or equivalent I’d be slayed!

It’s at a mate’s place! He loved the thermal stability and I wanted a change was all!

Oh I have... it’s his now! I fell in love with the Lever! I do miss it but I have no room for another machine!

Ohhhhhh.

I am sure she is being appreciated.

I was thinking of going lever after coming to terms with not being able to make a Controvento fit but I decided that my car is looking a bit tired and it is probably time to do something about that rather than replacing coffee machines that don't need replacing  :'(
