Thoughts on this?
Will we start seeing soft pastel coloured Europiccolas?

Unfortunately, the conditions for operating a business in Italy remain grim.
The government kills any sense of entrepreneurship by its persistence in demanding businesses and individuals forensically justify how every dollar earned and spent is allocated. If we think paperwork is bad here in Oz, it’s nothing compared to Italy.
There is a bizarre paranoia within Italy that is killing all companies......eliminating the desire of companies to grow or even survive.

La Pavioni is one of many small family companies with great intelligence, innovation and quality, but like many Italian companies, they can’t assemble the capital to fund the expansion. The tax laws are crippling, the bureaucracy stifling......it’s just too hard.

Smeg is capital rich and like many Italian companies they end up being acquired to leverage their IP and considerable design talent.

It’s a shame the co-inventor of the espresso machine falls into the hands of a global appliance player.....who’s built in coffee machine in the home are mediocre at best.....but I suppose this is better than being swallowed by a predator from another region.

Sign of the times. I’m kinda surprised how LM have been so successful given the challenges with running a company based in Italy

Excellent information MC! I know a very high-profile singer who is still awaiting payments from a season two years ago in Italy (I won’t say which house)! The amount of money is astronomical and her agent and company assures her it’s coming... but these things take time!

Nah... they’ll either continue as usual with a better supply chain or become collectibles (only Eleventy-Billion made). Either is good for us!

Lol, there are hopefuls already trying to flog Euros as collectibles on FleaBay.......
If I had the time, I'd be quite happy with an older one as another toy but my gaggia mini stares forlornly at me enough as it is....

Maybe now is the time?

I love mine, especially for the first cuppa of the morning.
It is only me here at that time of the day so, to me, it makes sense if I am only doing one cup.

The thing about the Pav is the ease of maintenance and the quick heat time. It’s an amazing steamer too! A God-shot from a Pav however is never enough of a good thing :D

It sure is, If I can manage it anyone can  :P

I honestly have nothing bad to say about them, for one or two cups I think they are perfect.
Today I am on my own all day so the Splendor probably won't even be turned on at all. I would go so far as to say if it wasn't for the need to occasionally do a few cuppas at a time I could probably make do with just the La Pav.

The only thing was I had to spring for a second grinder as the La Pav and the Splendor use very different grinds and I don't have the patience to be going back and forth wasting coffee. That is just me though and some people might enjoy playing with the grinds.

Levers have an undeniable aesthetic/kinetic appeal, my biggest problem is being away two weeks at a time and home about 5-6 days in between.
Which is why the Flair/Aergrind combo gets one helluva workout - about 900g of beans every two weeks, its given me many months of totally decent espresso.
Poor little Mini is lovely but needs a new piston seal (which I have, but always stuff that has higher priority....domestic harmony and all that).
I'd personally be after a mid-late 90's or a 70s LP, depending on cost/availability......I have a Feld2 in the wings seeking employment, lol!

Mine was an ebay purchase and I had no idea how old it was, it was also not as described. Surprise, surprise.

When we took the bottom off we found out it was a 2010 model but it had been abused big time.
It cost us a few $$ to get it back to where it should be but we learned a whole lot, there is nothing on it that we now couldn't fix ourselves if need be.

That they are.
I swear if it wasn't for the need of having to do more than two or three cups every now and again I could get by just with the Europiccola.

I’ve got a 76, fully restored by me. She sits alongside my daily driver Giotto and gets fired up every now and then especially when I don’t want to wait for Giotto to warm up. It’s a bit like driving an old Italian sports car in that it drives like crap for the average Joe but provides a fantastic experience to those in the know.

She is a beauty fg1972.

I was going to get the base of mine powder coated in purple but it will have to wait as I have decided I really need a new car.
