Welcome CA :)
Nice gear.
Did you do those Silvia mods yourself? That reminds me of a heavily modded Silvia I saw several years back.
Cheers, Paul
Hi Paul,

Yep I did it all myself, including the internal changes.  I actually think we might have chatted about this on another forum a few years back as you mentioned.

The Silvia was a great learning experience plus I enjoy tinkering.

Nice work Stef. Re Silvia tinkering, I only got as far as a slightly dodgy side mounted PID before I moved to an HX. Still, I also enjoyed the tinkering.

oh thats a nice set up - must be fun to play with!

can you pressure profile with the paddle or is it more about controlled pre-infusion ?

Pat

Hi Pat,

Yep certainly fun to play with and yes you can pressure profile with it. I have full control from 0-9 bar and anywhere in between. It's not necessarily repeatable shot to shot because you are doing it manually but for non commercial use it's great. Generally though mostly I use it for long preinfusions of 30s or so.

The modification is just replacing the parts on the group head with parts from the Strada MP - it's an expensive exercise but worth it for my use.

Wow.. some epic posts.
Coffee roasting for me keeps me sane.. I'm in a fairly high profile corporate gig working for the man.
My home coffee business keeps me mentally sane.. working for me.
I roast down the coast of Victoria in barwon heads.. I swear the sea air makes the roasts taste better.

Hi all, first post to this forum, I only just came across it after a recommendation from another member. :-)

I use a Sylvia with a Mazzer Kony E grinder and roast with an old Behmor 1600 which I would like to upgrade to a decent 1 or 2kg more commercial like roaster one day.

Cheers,
Shewey

Hi All,

Newbie here. I love coffee but I'm a real beginner when it comes to making coffee. My standard coffee order is either a magic or double espresso if I feel like lowering my milk intake.

I have just purchased my first coffee machine. I've got a Sunbeam EM6910 and Sunbeam grinder EM0430 (bought together second hand for a bargain!) Based on what I've read online the EM6910 is a good place to start, and I am also aware of the limitations of the EM0430 grinder. However, I just want to have a play around, learn from the start and if I get to the point where an upgrade is needed then I'm sure I will.

I'm very much looking forward to learning from those on this forums. Already I'm learning new words (basket, naked filter, knock, tamper) and I'm super excited to being able to produce a drinkable coffee in my own home in the near future.

Welcome James! Yeah it's a great journey learning all about coffee and making it at home. Stick with the basics and keep things consistent and you'll be well on your way :). Yeah alot of people start with that combo so good call, have fun with it, and ask away :)

Hi guy's,
I have been reading a lot of posts and love the site. Yes l'm a newbie to the coffee world and looking forward to finding answers to a lot of questions around starting a mobile coffee business.
Like many others, l'm tied of working for the man and l'm looking for a more satisfying move towards retirement.
