Australian Barista champs?

admin

Hi AM - thanks for the update; congrats to all the entrants and of course special congratulations to the winners. Brett, if you do make it to ACT event, would be great if you could post results from there also. cheers A

No worries, I will try and takes some pics to show all the movement and colour. Brett

Well the ACT champs are done and dusted and despite some issues with the equipment they ran fairly well. Unfortunately due to the delays the latte art and cupping competitions were postponed to a later date. I had to leave before the end of the day as I had a long drive but I believe the winner was Sasa from Ona coffee. When I get official results I will post. Have a few snaps (not as professional as some) and will post them shortly. Brett

Just confirming that Sasa won, not exactly sure about the place getters. Their scores will be a bit low due to issues with the coffee machines leading to their taste scores being marked down. Sasa also had to deal with some power issues which meant he had to start again. Congratulations to all the competitors and thanks to the organisers and judges it was interesting to see how much work goes into putting one of these on. hi mate, haven't had a chance to look at the pics yet, but thanks very much for the update! A

Koffee_Kosmo

Thanks Motto I had a look at the photos of the action on your link KK

I found the whole experience really interesting so I would encourage anyone who has the time to get on down and have a look. Stick your hand up to help out and you will get a lot more out of it too!!! As a result of my involvement I (supported by the assca hopefully) will be organising a barista competition in Wagga next year. If anyone would like to help out/be involved in the Wagga/Albury/Griffith area (or anywhere around there too) then I would love to hear from you/them. Brett

anyone going to the national Barista Champs in the Gold Coast on the weekend of 28th? Unfortunately I can't make it unfortunately, so if you're going and may be able to provide a few pics, that would be great! A

actually AM - they don't seem to have been 'jumping out of the woodwork' - let's hope one of your CS colleagues does end up attending!!

thanks AM, although when I logged in, it was just ads and sponsors logos ???

Just a quick update - Matt Perger from Melbourne won the Barista Champs and Kirby Berlin [also from Melb.] won the Latte Art champs! dR

yes, Matt is actually an employee of Dave M. and Zoe at their new operation Axil, and will go on to compete in the World Barista Championships this June, in Bogota, Columbia; congrats also to Kirby Berlin, who will compete in the World Latte Art champs which will take place at the SCAE World of Coffee Event in Maastricht, Holland. Congrats to all competitors and especially to the winners! A
