What coffee am I drinking at the moment?

Started on the Etho Tchembe today after 7 days of resting, very very nice, smoth buttery mouth feel with silky choclates and a delicate fruit note. Nikessi still needs a few more days, but a definite jam thing starting to happen, again going to be a very smooth coffee with a lot of delicate flavours. Chester

Hi Brett H Tchembe has only been espresso but the Nikessi I have a lighter roast for V60 as well as an espresso roast. Chester

None - ran out of the last roast I had, and been told I am not allowed to roast any more for the foreseeable future as the aroma makes my pregnant wife feel nauseous. 🙁 😢 :tearhair: :head: The only nice caffeine hit I am getting is at the markets on the weekend. The auto Saeco machine at work just doesn't cut the mustard with its Lavazza beans.

Thats tragic, I see you only have 2 options. 1. Time to get a new wife Risky but it has been done before. 2. Send me your address and I will send you something nice to assist in managing your caffeine craving. Chester

Go roast at a mates place then? Or send her shopping! lol My wife hates the smell, it makes her sick too (not pregnant though) so I just roast outside with the glass doors closed, no problems there.

Coffee roasting isn't what I'd call a pleasant aroma .. and should be done in an outside ventilated room or garage imho Like a BBQ or cooking up a curry that can permeate through everything inside the house. No problem at my joint. I can cook up a curry and don't even bother using the extraction fan .. and haven't had any complaints. So long as my Cat is fed .. she is cool. 😛

I thought you NT folk were meant to be hard as. Obviously not :rofl: There is a wonderful thing called an extension lead that should put you and your roaster out of harms way no matter which way the wind is blowing. 😉

No to the coffee roaster and the Bezzera :o Get out while you still can man, head south, the cold normally stops an NTer from making it to far south so you won't be pursued to far. :thumb:

I think there are 4 options here 1. put helmet on and tell wife to harden up 2. drink tea like a nancy 3. wait for the wife's nausea to turn to cravings 4. get a shed as Brett suggests - and move out # 1 is the way I would go. Give her a spew bucket and tell her you are priming your body for the endless, mind numbing sleepless nights. :rofl:

Haha c-man. It won't come to that for us...as long as Mrs Egg gets back on the coffee train after the bub comes along. I've moved the coffee machine out to the store room and will roast a batch outside the next time I manage to sneak out of going shopping with her. So including time for maturation it will be another couple of weeks until I get a decent(ish) coffee again. Thanks a lot for the offer Chester. I might have to place an order for when it arrives as I will have zero time for rotating then I imagine.

So what are the top picks from mycuppa's roasted bean range at the moment? Can be blends or single origin. Beans of interest are * Burundi * Redemption of the Spro (love the name) * Ethiopian Yirg * Costa Rica * Guatemala Are there any of the above that stand out as 'exceptional' or up there with the best you've had? Not sure whether I will go 1kg or 2x 500g .. so I'm looking for the best 2 for milk coffee. Cheers

Hallelujah! Went to the markets this weekend, and grabbed my weekly coffee. I fancied something milk based for a change, and had a bit of a shock when Mrs Egg asked for a few sips. It appears she is finally getting over the nausea stage of pregnancy. If only I had managed to roast some beans I could be drinking my own coffee next weekend.

Good to hear egbbert. This mornings effort was the 90+ Etho Tchembe and Nikessi all through the Slayer and the results were very very AWESOME :thumb: Hmm green beans delivered to my door, roaster and slayer right there, seems I never have to leave the house again. Chester
