Looking for a Stand alone Milk frother to go with my Presso

I have been using my old Krupps 880 just for the milk, it does the job sometime but not often enough.

I need opinions on a stand alone Milker.

some options I am considering

1. Belman stove top, but I did not want to bring the stove into the system rally.

2. Mr Cuppachino but don't think the quality will be there

3. An old broken Expresso machine that the milk steamer still works

Thoughts?

If you have a stick blender the aerator fitting may work, so it won't hurt to try I also remember the old manual type, they work like a butter churn and look like a French plunger Then there is the battery hand held whisk KK

C-man, I would save the money spent on a stand alone milk frother and put it towards a decent 2nd hand machine. Plenty to choose from and even if it requires some form of repair the people here will bend over backwards to assist.

I get good results plumping up the warmed milk in a large plunger filling it one third with milk then plunging away - and I've got a Mr Cappuccino as well but i wouldn't recommend it You can pick up a second hand gaggia classic or similar on ebay for around $100 which might give you what you need plus the aded bonus of espresso coffee...

I found my cheapie Sunbeam pretty anaemic, but it kinda did the job. You'd probably get better results out of a cheap Gaggia and they're generally considered the minimum gateway machine to real espresso. Nespresso milk frothers run over $100 and you can probably get a used Gaggia for that or less.

I got a Bellman steamer with my Presso. It works ok but the setup, waiting time (on stove) and cool down/cleanup is such a chore it puts me off using it. I cheat now and heat the milk in the nuker then just froth up like KK said and as long as the Bellman is 'seen' on the stove.... Well no-one is the wiser, if you get my drift...

thanks, there is something like it that came with the presso, I figured I would save it for traveling. At home I want a good want to practice with.

:rofl: C-man I vote for number 3, it's what we used to do, we have an old Breville that did work but funnily not as well as the Presso, so I just used it for the steam wand 😃

I use the Bellman for milk steaming when camping and while I've never managed to achieve great success (silky microfoam)...it'll do when there's no other option around. For home the Bellman could be an option for daily use but for me I think it demands too much effort to master. BUT having said that .....if I didn't have a HX machine and had to rely on the Bellman then I would have more patience and drive to learn to master it. I have used both a plunger type and the little hand held twirly thing and both are simple to use. Good at agitating and aerating but I wouldn't be expecting to pour rosettas with them. Although I haven't used either of these.....there are two appliances that merit investigation.....the Nespresso (aerocino?) & Breville Milk Frother (at least with this you have some level of temp control).
