Sooo who hasn't got beans yet? I haven't had any word as to whether derrilexs' swap partner has received his but I know they were sent by derrilex a week ago so hopefully today is the latest they should arrive. Tangos should be with him today fingers crossed.

I've got mine already and they're really good! unfortunately my palate isn't good enough to distinguish what beans are in there but i do know it pleases my taste buds!lol nice syrupy pour with good body!

Tried the blend this morning....excellent! A lovely drop as a short black, medium acidity and very smooth across the palate. Good body, with hints of fruityness and a sweet malt/honey (best I could come up with for that one) tinge. Very strong through milk, my wife was most impressed also. It is beyond me to even guess what was in this. :coffee2: :thumb: :thumb:

Almost to the end of the bag of my swap partners beans Left them to rest a little more and sampled them daily Still have enough for approx 3 doubles left Now assessment time It's a mellow blend and fairly well balanced blend However no individual flavours jump out at the taste buds It would suit as a good to great cafe blend The taste is very creamy with lots of Crema at the spouts and cup Overall a nice cup What is my guess of the beans in this blend ? I suspect as noted on an earlier post that I feel is has Monsooned Malabar, PNG pea berry and an Indonisian unless the pea berry sized beans are a Malawi Taste comments by others What Derrilex said of the blend while on a visit - it's creamy and nice and has a mild coffee strength of flavour What my wife said - it's very creamy and mild in taste but better than a lot of cafe offerings What my daughter said - I like it better than yours dad as its not as intense My assessment followes what others have observed so far I will post again and report again after the last of the beans have been consumed KK

My beans havent arrived as yet, sadly I am off to NZ tomorrow for 4 weeks so it will be a test of how well they last until I get back!

Well as you probably guessed by the bag, It was me that send them: So what was it then? - It was this blend: 120g Costa Rica San Isidro 100g Ethiopian Harrar 60g Colombian Supremo 20g Indian Kaapi Royale Robusta

Wife went to post office today... 6 pack of vino and a bag of coffee..... One BIG bag of coffee - aroma spewing out of the satchel 🙂 Roasted on the 4/8, so will get into it. Early look with no taste is it went to 2c and that at least a 2-3 bean blend (some small yemen beans?) Tomorrow will be taste time 🙂

Ok, Final notes on my SO. It was originally flat, lifeless as prevously mentioned. I've pulled the shot time out to about 35 seconds and ground a LOT finer and it's working far better in milk. Very tasty, in fact! I have a hunch it's a brazilian, but not 100% on that. With the blend I received, have only tasted it the once today, and it was full flavoured, but a bit one dimensional. I need to play with the grind a bit more, as I think it has some real potential. Looking forward to another one tonight (still annoyed I can't work out who sent it to me though 😡 )

Oh well, since Aus post sent my beans to Gove on the back of a donkey ( or maybe a Landrover :stir) I may as well let G know what they are since they may not resemble beans in 4 weeks time. The blend was Columbian Supremo/Brazil Monte and the SO was Ugandan Mt Elgon

Ok, so I'm through Bags 1 & 2. Bag 1 - best way I can describe it is mellow. I liked it. Easy drinking but nothing jumped out at me. As a SB it didnt make my eyeballs fall out which is a plus. With milk it was just.....nice & mellow. Not overly bright which is good for me Bag 2 - A bit bright for my liking but still perfectly fine for my shagged taste buds. As a SB 1 eyeball fell out but milk tamed it well. Pics are Bag 1 shot - split double Bag 2 shot - split double While I'm at it, I had some of RM's beans at KK's. Good shop coffee was the verdict :thumb:

Good to hear they were drinkable derrilex and I hope you enjoyed them! They were actually both SOs - Bag 1 was Mexico El Malinal Typica and Bag 2 was Ethiopian Ghimbi. I think by the sounds of it I should have taken the Ghimbi a bit darker. Thanks for the feedback 🙂 To lemoo - both bags are great, the Guji was really good as an espresso as well!

Thats cool Tango. They both poured nicely. Lots more crema with Bag 2. Ive never had either of those beans - partially explains why they were not familiar. Other part is crap palette 😃

This is interesting. The blend has turned into a right crema monster, pumping out masses of beautiful creamy liquid. A short black this arvo had me pushing my left eye back into the socket, increasing brightness and acidity left me almost gasping. By the same token, a similarly increased push through the milk as well. Loving this coffee. Whatever AB and ABB were/are, I'm going to put a batch through the aeropress tonight.

Yes, I should have got onto SS sooner to tell her to get mine sent Express Post - anything else takes up to 3 weeks due to going to Darwin first and then coming on the weekly barge. Who knows they may still be fine! Anyway lets do a swap with each other later on and apologies for wasting your time & greens.
