Yep Brett, Spa 'n'deck is good product. Steer clear of the oil based stuff. KK, paint is king for outdoor timber as OG said - unless you like painting windows every 6 months :mad: I'm reasonably curious now about the troll, proof is in the pudding though so off to AM's with ya and get it on. Whats your trade OG ?

It seems we have wandered a long way OT. I started by suggesting that Xtroll Wood Preserver, a product I am quite familiar with, but not an expert on, would be ideal for the timber handles, and I stand by that. Whilst Xtroll is a superior trade product, there is unfortunately no such thing as a magic wand. Any specific applications, may I suggest you contact the Manufacturer ;-)

Thanks to AM Betsy II is all wooded up again and all is right with the world! The sharp eyed among you might also notice an extra lump of wood - my wife surprised me for my birthday today with a Pullman Nexus and a VST basket combo! Both of which worked extremely well from the outset. I'm particularly happy with the matched tamper/basket situation. The old tamper wasn't exactly a precision fit. Now I need to get the dose really right!! Thanks again AM, I'm super chuffed!

The sharp eyed among us might also see your tamper sitting on the bench in a pile of ground coffee. Whats up with that Kelsey ? :rofl: :rofl: You just need AM to do you a matching PF handle now. The OE part just doesn't cut it

As far as Flood an Sikkens products are concerned, I would describe them as mass produced products- made to a price... But Sikkens for example is sold at a premium price- but not made to a premium standard. Each has their place in the market and I've used both and still use Flood products for certain applications, but I found Sikkens 'wanting.' Each to their own, I suppose. Some people are satisfied with Nescaf

No Probs. I try to never miss a session 'in the shed'. I might even introduce you to the world of laminating (timbers), vac-bagging and epoxy. Hey, funny thing... I was suggesting Carbon side panels as a mod and I see Chris from Talk Coffee talking about carbon side panels being available as an 'option' on a new machine he is trialling... (CS thread) I dunno- maybe they've been available for ever as an option... I wouldn't know... I'm not that up with it.... Anyway, making your own will cost pennies compared to the prices they will most likely ask for exotic extras.... I'm into motorbikes (although I don't currently own one) and in the world of motorbikes, mods are called 'Farkles'... I like the word... So we would call KK's handles Timber Farkles... What do you think? PS feel free to shoot me down in flames... I can handle it OG

I am not sure how a discussion on "Custom handles and stuff" turns into a discussion of wood coatings and preservatives. Not one photo of wooden handles and stuff... I have a cocobolo bean popper cap on the versalab, an aluminum bean popper cap on it and an oak cap on the Kony short Mini Mazzer hopper http://mini4fun.info/Espresso_Gear/Espresso_Gear.html

BrettH: And where does one "Check your permissions"? I was finding the Forum a bit strange in accepting photos. It would take jpeg for a while and then it would not take that format. I just checked my "Gallery" and the jpeg format is apparently accepted there. So what's up? Inserting a Link to a web page of my Coffee Gear seemed easier so that was what I did. Stephen

You should not have any restrictions on uploading images including multiple images via the attach section that's below the post box Just make them smaller Ohh Welcome to the Crema forum :thumb: KK

Thanks KK! It appears that either I offended someone and have been banned (which I doubt) or the MAC system I am using does not like talking to whatever Crema is using. Now I don't even have a "Modify" button on my Posts when I visit them! Correct that, no "Modify" button on the Post with the Link. I think this qualifies as "custom handles" ;D Found them at an "antique" fair. Silver plated English made coffee spoons with coffee bean ends. Got the set of 12. Vendor thought they were real coffee beans :doh:
