How about a pool ?

derrilex

Came up nicely I think. It was a pain though but the radius device made marking the boards pretty easy. Then it was just a precession up and down a ladder to cut, route, test fit and fix each board. Good practice for the next one anyway and gives me a idea how much time to allow.

Lacehim

Stunning job D. Can't wait to see the finished product, you'll have the best pool ever! 🙂

derrilex

Thanks Lacehim. More heavy duty construction tomorrow when the walkway between pool deck and house deck gets done :thumb:

If I let it go festy over the winter the beans may get a look in 😃

Man, ..i hope you had that pool ready to use this week ! I am sure i would have melted without mine... i even had to switch off the solar to keep the temp below 30 C. Also , i finally replaced my dead "Stroud" 32v pool lights with some modern 12v LED's Hah ! they come with inbuilt multi colour "disco" effect sequence..or any colour you fancy too. ..nice for the Xmas party effects.

derrilex

Hells yes. Swimming is bliss after busting my ass finishing off the pool deck. As soon as I get the glass up I'll post a heap of pics

derrilex

Ok, bar paint touch ups ( a lot of them) and a few more coats on the deck its basically ready for its final (and only) inspection from the certifier. I had a bit a drama from a RSOLE jealous neighbour that complained to council saying I was swimming in a unfenced pool. This sent my certifier into orbit and I had to spend 10 minutes on the phone calming the situation down. Once I explained that all temporary barriers were in place and complied, the neighbour is a idiot and I'm waiting for my pool glass to arrive, the crisis was averted 😃

Looking good :thumb: KK

Brett_H

Awesome! The neighbour is clearly the worlds biggest douche!

Lacehim

Nice Job! When you coming to do mine?! If the neighbour is in the yellow house you better watch out. There's a ladder in the photo so maybe they will be perving on your swimming! Makes me glad that I have lovely neighbours! 🙂

derrilex

AM, doggy pool will probably require fencing soon  Brett - yes he is Lacehim - book it in and I'm there 😃 The yellow house is the cool neighbour that let me put the crane through his yard. We help each other out. The knob on the other side is jealous twat.

conikal

Very nice result. Is that SS wire fence really only temporary until a glass one replaces it ?? Living in Sydney with many kms of water frontage , wharfs, etc with no fences at all, and literally millions of visitors running around,.... i will never understand the logic of the strict fencing regs around private backyard pools.

derrilex

The SS cable is permanent. The pool deck itself is the fence as its 1500 high. The SS cable is just like normal balustrade for decks more than 1 mt from the ground. The only area we required " pool fencing" was the connection between the house verandah and the pool deck. Because there is decking and cable and stairs all in close proximity to the pool gate, I had to run the glass right down ( within 5 mm) to the deck floor and also hang it over the edge of the decking by 5 mm so no spiderman kiddies can climb over the stairs and get a toe hold between glass and decking boards. PITA but anything 10 mm wide is considered a toe hold, like the head of a bolt - I kid you not.

Kelsey

That looks awesome mate, I don't blame the neighbour for being jealous!

Good job D. What I want to know.......... where is the mobile coffee cart/built-in cooler allowing you to stay immersed within the inviting waters and yet still enjoy a refreshing hot or cold beverage........................ without having to drip water into the house.

shape_shifter

Derrilex it looks fantastic, great selling point too if you ever go that way, I would buy a house with something like that over a full size pool. ...and what Jeff said 😃

At the risk of been flogged ( if she reads this) the wife fetches a mean beer. As far as the coffee goes, iced for sure, fetched in the same manner as beer   😛

mycuppa

I thought that was the case........ but it's far more entertaining to observe the risks associated with "making you say it".... p.s. have to confess to enjoying a similar such arrangement myself. The Little One receives a txt from me when I've finished at the factory and about to head home. This is the all-important signal for her to transfers a few coldies from the fridge section to the freezer so they are at the perfect point just prior to the first snaps of freezing (assuming I get a decent number of green traffic lights). 2nd wave beer we call it. Chilled to just prior to frozen

Popped into see Mr & Mrs D today, and all I can say is wow, that pool is every bit as good as the photos! Amazing deck, and it just flows into the house. You are one luckyman D! 🙂 Thanks for the coffee, it was fantastic. Sorry about the kiddy going ferral! Can't take them anywhere!
