EBay Craziness

Now EBay and other Gum-like auction sites are frowned on at other forums with links to auctions removed or replaced with "evilbay". We do miss out on so much frivolity and hilarity by not mentioning the elephant on the Internet so... Take photos of the listed and go your hardest!

Exhibit A.

Something fishy abou this coffee grinder...

C'mon Brett - there is absolutely nothing wrong with that listing. It does have a wonderful crema-like hue about it.

Actually, this is an awesome idea. Combine a cafe by the beach with a popular fishing spot - catch dinner while grinding the coffee for today's customers. I like it.

Brett_H

Okay, if he's going to this much effort why spell Espresso incorrectly?? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=111173407939&globalID=EBAY-AU Is is an advertising ploy?

derrilex

All parts soaked in vinegar - just like the corned beef I had last night 😃

hiphipharar

This is the classic Italian Rancilio Z9 machine with zero electronics - this is totally manual - literally there is nothing to break.

Indestructible? Wood-fired? Brew switches are for show only? Coffee is extracted via gravity feed?

And of course, it has been configured for domestic use......yes, we all have one of those spare, 15A power outlets conveniently located near the sink in our kitchen.

Not sure about anyone else But I do have a 15amp outlet conveniently next to the coffee machine area  One never knows when a machine turns up KK

Brett_H

I would be reticent to run a machine that size at home given the electricity costs of getting it to temperature and keeping it there for 4 coffees a day! Not a 15amp point in sight at my place!

derrilex

Just file the earth pin down Brett

DMH

Taking about eBay craziness. http://www.ebay.it/itm/121177185353 I pick it up tomorrow and hope to have a good idea of its condition by tomorrow night. No rush on the coffee front as I have an L1 and there is no way that this brute will ever be allowed into the house.

strange listing??????

There is the difference between you and I. Net cost of running a two group commercial is actually pretty low. I have two of them. Maybe 60 cents a day each in electricity. Cheap hobby. Wouldnt pay 2k+ for a coffee machine though.

Is that all?? I thought they'd be more than that given most are 15 or 20 amp. I've some space next to the toilet so perhaps a compact 2 group only.

My two group compact runs on 1650watts right now, takes 45 mins to heat up, then idles at 25% duty cycle. When insulated it should drop to 10% or so - effectively consuming 165 watts. The real issue for many people is the time to get up to temperature and the sheer bulk of commercial machines. Plumbing isnt an issue as they run happily from a tank and my 1l drip tray is more than adequate for home use. My full size two group is a beast. That lives in the garage until I sell it. No room left indoors for it. 🙁

Thank you. I now have the machine and it is in pieces and has already drawn blood. Details of the rebuild follow: http://www.bestcafes.com.au/forum/projects-rebuilds/gaggia-tell-2-group-and-reserve-rebuild/
