Straight off camera... Both Lenses shot at 2.8. Final Macro shot (not great but boy it's hot outside today) is with the Macro Lens. Please note that IMHO: "Macro photography (or photomacrography or macrography, and sometimes macrophotography), is extreme close-up photography, usually of very small subjects, in which the size of the subject in the photograph is greater than life size (though macrophotography technically refers to the art of making very large photographs)." Mine could be better in all instances using the monopod and having less help from the kids.... 😉

No mate, just through the viewfinder but because of the breeze I took a few as it moved in and out of the shallow focal plane. Okay, here is without NAS re-sampling... 135F2.8 Defocus Off

Okay, now that's better but not yet 100%. Defocus all the way to Rear 5.6, then re-focus subject....

What is interesting is how the focus of the subject changes intrinsically. Issues with the wind don't help but the pay-off with this is that bokeh and despite subtle, it really presents delicious opportunities.

Just examples shot at lowest resolution to see what changes happen and how. None of these pics will survive my NAS cull. TBH the Defocus is something that I'll use infrequently and mostly to the Rear. Where it will excel is when I'm taking pics of my own kids in groups of other kids. My kids faces will be sharp and the anonymity of the other kids be preserved.

very cool mate. Comparing the pics it seems to me the bokeh is creamier when defocus is set to the front. Or is it just this forum playing tricks on me?

No, you're spot on but the subject detail seems better with it set to the centre or the rear. Reading back through KKs comment and rebooking at the pics I'm inclined now to disagree. I've always been a sucker for the Petzval look however but not prepared to compromise the reason for the picture... The subject! The backgrounds after a glass of wine are mesmerising. Can't wait for some Christmas lights 😉

Another one to add to my portfolio. Got there early. Tide was out. Sun was coming up. Cloud cover was scattered. An old ship wreck off seaholme vic beach.

Great textures! Love the detail in the shadows too. Are you going to add these to a 500px Chanel? Are you sharpening at all in post?

ill put these up on 500px someday soon. Not sharpening in post (except for what Lightroom does on default import) but I do apply a some noise reduction for when I bring out the details in the shadows. The details are there but increasing the visibility of them does add some noise so i do some local adjustments. Photo was taken at iso100, 11mm, f11 with a 108second exposure.
