2020 Green Beans discussion

Cuir_Beluga

I have no idea Brett, it didn't give me any options so I was assuming Aust Post.

Cuir_Beluga

So, my second lot of beans from ICT are being delivered today by Aust Post along with 5 kilos from elsewhere. For some reason it was much faster going this time round by Aust Post. My first order took a week, this one 4 days. Excited!

Brett_H

Brilliant! Hope you like them as much as I do!

Cuir_Beluga

I had a minor hiccup this time around. There was one bag missing but I used their live chat function and I was told they would have one sent out to me that day. No harm done.

Hi everyone I'm looking at buying some beans from ICT for the first time. Anyone have any particular beans they have tried and would recommend? I'm looking at trying various ones from Africa, South and Central America, India ... the "works and jerks" as my Dad would say ;-) Thanks, Dan

Cuir_Beluga

So far out of what I have bought from ICT I have roasted and drank the Burundis, Sidimos, and the Kongas and they were all lovely. YTMV (Your tastes may vary) :coffee2:

DrD

Thanks so much ... had the Sidamo and Konga on my list, just need to work out a few others now. It is a problem when you are spoilt with choice ;-)

Cuir_Beluga

It is, so many good ones to try. Perhaps grab a "mystery bag" too, I did with my last order.

Brett_H

Hi mate, they’re all fresh! Some stand-outs I’ve had have been their Monsooned Robusta and any and all of the Brazilians and the Nicaraguan Santa Rita.

Cuir_Beluga

They have a couple of new ones in too 😛

Brett_H

Nice... I’m due another order shortly!

Cuir_Beluga

I'm tempted too but I am sitting on a few too many, for me, at the moment plus I just forked put for a new grinder, again, so I am in $$ recovery mode lol. His prices have gone up a bit too but he is still well priced.

Brett_H

I just roasted the Burandi and it’s superb!

Cuir_Beluga

I enjoyed it too.

DrD

Everyone...thanks for the recommendations. I will be placing an order shortly. Even got a "10% off my first purchase" offer, which is a nice sweetener ;-)

Cuir_Beluga

Let us know what you end up with.

DrD

Ok, so I had a hiccup with the discount code but ICT quickly fixed that up and I ended up ordering the following: Yirgacheffe Konga, Sidamo, Columbia Nueva Granada, Peru Organic, Guatemala Soledad, India Monsooned Malabar and Monsooned Robusta. Now that should keep my busy for some time ;-)

Brett_H

Nice selection!! The Peru is a particularly beautiful looking bean and tastes surprisingly good (never been a huge fan of Peruvian in comparison to other regions).

Cuir_Beluga

Nice choices. I am currently drinking the Costa Rica San Jorge.

I've just polished off 5kg of their Ugandan they had a few months ago. I roasted it with a slowish profile and I got a beautiful low acidity, medium bodied, darkish milk chocolate bomb. I would definately get this one again! That was my first bean from ICT Greenroom and I was impressed with the quality, although I think I'll contact them next time to arrange a different delivery mechanism as I prefer things to go to my PO Box, the local delivery people are a bit hap hazard around here...
