Hi Chris - thought I'd do a bit of investigation on your behalf on this... normally I would suggest that you contact the national importer/distributor to find out the name of one of their service agents, but in the case of Rancilio, there doesn't seem to be any one national distributor. In fact, it seems a bit disorganised, and the thing that makes it more complicated is that a lot of the importers sell mainly on the net, where you don't get much back-up service. Contacted Attilio [Fresh Coffee on the forum] and he gave the following response: there are 2 issues and 1 scenario. One is where you needs to get someone to replace a shorted electric element, and the other is where you ask the repairer to lower the water bypass pressure. The first is simple enough but expensive, the second is the one of the usual things that niggle at people that spend to much time reading the internet instead of enjoying their coffee...they read this stuff and think they're missing out on something because what they read tells them their machine is "not set up properly by the manufacturer", when in reality it is very possible that after the bypass pressure reduction has been effected, the owner may not even be able to tell the difference in the coffee or the behaviour of the machine. Either way, the end result is the same - namely that you should contact your retailer about servicing the machine. Not sure if that was the answer you were hoping for, but I respect Attilio's advice more than just about anyone else out there. Hope that helps -A
