Just popped into Pioneer Roastery in Yandina. Haven't been for a while because my Nambour appointments schedule has been rather tight lately. They've updated the layout, new tables and chairs here and there. They have upholstered some chairs with old coffee bags, and even a nice couch for laze around on. They stopped having any food which is a shame, it's just coffee and a few biccies. I really don't know where they are headed with their business. They have a lovely big building, but it looks so empty. I would have thought a brew bar, maybe some machines/grinders to look at/buy. Outdoor seating would be nice and a tidy up of the roasting area so that you can view what's going on. Maybe something like Cleanskin in Brisbane? Competition in the area is starting to raise the bar a little, like Clandestino & Little Cove in Noosa. Would be nice to see Pioneer take them on a bit. Their espresso is excellent, and very consistant, which is more than I can say for a lot of places I visit. I think by not doing any food they are really limiting their appeal. Especially with Bruce highway travellers that want to stop but are dragging the family along and have limited time. Maybe they can't compete foodwise with the Ginger Factory across the road (which has awful coffee by the way).
