After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Yes, that's the one. Someone was killed in it apparently, hence the name. Ok, here's a more difficult pic- where's this one?
I meant to say It was built on the same ground where a Russian Tsar was killed, that is where it got it's name I believe. the other photo I have no idea, but being a pilot you must have a lot of interesting stories to tell!
Start with a Licenced Plumber, who fits 3 x 90 degree bends in one horizontal plane (for "neatness") Add a possible fourth 90 degree bend at bottom of the down pipe from where it runs to storm water connection (& possibly a fifth 90 degree bend...have to dig it up to check, as cant trust this licenced "tradesman") Add the requisite Council approval at inspection ??? And... Water pours straight over the guttering instead of going the downpipe. Way to go ! More serious than it seems, there is no town water here and the water tank relies on this sytem to fill. A simple fix using 3 x 45 degree bends instead, have to wait and see what happens next time it rains.....
FC the 45s will help the flow how much gutter is that drop suporting? If more than 6m and/or a steep roof you may want to consider another drop.
Hello C Man, thanks for the interest. Yes, thats 1 x 90 ml down pipe for 14 lineal meters of guttering. It carries the run off from 14 x 7 meters of roof catchment, where 4 meters of the 7 are @ 30 degrees, and the other 3 meters directly onto the gutter, are at 5 degrees. We wanted to do one thing at a time (taking a leaf out of my own book there!) and fix the glaringly obvious first and see what happens before getting serious and looking to do more stuff.....!

If you are serious about catching more water you will need more drops for sure, you may also need to redirect the falls on the gutter.
When we used to live in Cairns, we did on one occasion go water skiing in the inlet. Falling off was nerve racking to say the least (couldnt see your hand once it went under, so how you would see a croc I dont know). Why did we do this? Because our friends with the water ski boat and others were doing it from time to time and seemed to think nothing of it. After that first time, for us, never again in the inlet. But like a lot of other things we did over a period of years in FNQ, it was an experience (and once is enough). EDIT: Of course it didnt dawn until later......we had moved there from other (croc-less) places where we water skied for a bit of fun sport and to improve our slalom techniques, thinking nothing of falling off often through trying harder and harder to push the limits.....the locals virtually never fell off and were content to go for a water skiing "cruise" (which we never understood, except after you noted they/we were water skiing in croc infested waters......).
reminds me of the time we took my 19' half cabin to the Whitsundays, we went all the way out to the reef, dove all day and when we returned to the harbor just as we were pulling into the fuel dock I threw it into reverse to stop and
Wing! What was that? PLOP! We spat the prop into the air then into the drink! Lucky we did not use reverse way out there! being divers we went in after it trolling our fingers through the thick muck in a search pattern In those days parts were hard to get. until someone came and yelled to us that just the other day they caught a huge crock with a shark in his belly or was it the outer way around? did not matter we got out!
Works Sucks! I,m Going Fishing! A appropriate statement on my fishing shirt caught a few knowing nods from the fisherfolk next to me as we set about a frenzy catch of pilchards (mulies to those who use these for bait), herring (tommy rough for those who want to be sure!) and snook ( smallest cousin of the barracuda), using burley sinkers and 3 gang baitchasers. Squid was absent, so were the crabs, but a youngster had a ding dong battle with a bull shark on heavy gear as he trundled along the edge of the jetty hanging on for dear life as other terrified fishers did the mexican wave to avoid tangling as he followed the shark back and forth. Eventually he fought said shark on the safety of the adjoining beach. 50 minutes later I couldnt see through the darkness to see whether he won the battle or not as 20 other onlookers obscured my vision. The only con of fishing with my wife, having to pry the fish off the hooks, untangling and re-making end tackle due to the snags, not to mention keeping the pelicans at bay while the slippery fish was thrown into the bucket without a hint of finesse. Fishing, with the wife and a warm cuppa. A bad days fishing is still better than a good days work.
How about something different  I had the opportunity to take some photos of our local church frescoes [attachimg=1] This view is directly under a large chandelier [attachimg=2] A close up view [attachimg=3] A little bit further away [attachimg=4] St George KK
I do have a few hobbies apart from Coffee, one being Bikes and the other Photography Tas bushfire near Coles bay earlier in the year [attachimg=1] Grants Lagoon near Binalong Bay some time back [attachimg=2] Racha Yai Island in Thailand [attachimg=3] baby frog getting a piggy back [attachimg=4] and sometimes I combine both hobbies and go to the track to take photos [attachimg=5]
Screen grab of Facebook. So where is mythical 'share' button? The button I have for sharing (rightmost in menu bar over video) comes up with menu as in second screen grab. Most options require me to mess around with logging into a new chrome window for the selected social medium, so I select the email option and it opens the gmail app and pre fills with a short form URL I can cut/paste back into chat or threads here. I suspect this is quickest way to grab a short URL, but if anyone can come up with a quicker way, I am eager to learn.
