barista training

Hi everyone
I am looking at doing a coffee course and was wondering if someone could recommend a training centre to me. I have been working as an EMO for the last 6 years but have had no formal training and would like to complete a course. I am tossing up between DGCI and Sydeney coffee academy. Has anyone been to one of these schools and did they find it worthwhile? All feedback would be greatly appreciated as these course cost big bucks and don't want to waste my time and money going to the wrong one!!

Fi - from what i've heard, DGCi is expensive, but pretty good. The good thing is that they offer courses at different levels, which means that for someone who knows the basics, you could jump to the next level. Sydney Coffee Academy - [guess you mean the TAFE?] - don't know much about them. dR

Hi Fi If you already have 6 years of experience, I think that you might be better spending your money with some private tuition from a recognised barista trainer. You would be wasting your time and money on any of the above Intro courses. You would gain more from having a barista trainer assessing you and making suggestions as to how to improve your skills. This would be 1 on 1. If you are interested in this, then send me a PM and I will forward you some names. John
