breville cafe via venizia

ok I found one of these on the side of the road which is arguably where it belongs but it looks like its hardly ever been used so I thought I'd give it a go

got it home and filled the water tank, and switched it on

the pump engages and primes the thermocouple but there it ends - the heating light does NOT come on and in standby or milk frothing mode the machine runs through a non stop and quite loud series of clicks at regular one second intervals

the pumps obviously working and in steam mode cold water will dispense from the steam wand

but I can get any water to run from the group head and the thermocouple fails to engage as there's no hot water at all

ideas peoples?

I never find coffee machines on the side of the road I would rip out the working pump and recycle the rest.  Doubt it will be worth replacing an element in these type of machine.

You wanted a steam wand - enhancer attachment the other day for a via venezia Grab it and see if it fits KK

True I still need parts for the Gaggia Coffee deluxe but I doubt that they're comparable with a Breville product - still you never know the steam wand is fairly robust on the Breville so that could make a good potential swap Still I'd be interested in repairing the Breville if it's a fairly straight forward fix
