Hi AM, it's expensive but only a fraction of it's value when finished...  At the end of the day, for me this one's a keeper and will be used at home for our daily coffees, so I don't mind putting the time and $$ into it.  If it was only for resale, I could have done it a lot cheaper and not bothered so much with half of the stuff I've done.... Sometimes I tend to get carried away a bit with my resto's  ??? I'm also selling off the Cimbali 2 group, and a nice tax refund to pay for the expenses.....

This afternoon I got busy cleaning up some of the ceramic bits.  These pieces are the socket and plug for the power lead running along the rear cover to the light. Speaking of lights,  I thought it was too much stuffing around with placing the ballast for the fluoro, so I returned it and picked up an incandescant light that comes already with a fitting and cable. Anyway here's the plugs after cleaning.  The cockroaches certainly ate well, judging by the amount of crap I cleaned out of the back of the socket.... Check out the insulation - I think it's leather!  :o One of the machine feet had the sole surviving rubber insert.  It's convex on one side.  I'll start looking for maybe a sink plug or similar,  and cut to fit.  If nothing turns up,  maybe I'll just get some flat rubber sheet from Clark rubber and cut to size.

Those or similar rubber feet are available They are known as dome feet You can also get large grommet type feet and modify Solid rubber blocks can also be turned on a lathe However I would be getting rubberized cork and paint them black  I have some industrial rubberized cork if you want some KK

Good question...    Nothing yet.  I might have to get something modern, in the meantime to tide me over whilst looking for one to resto. If I could find one (unlikely), without paying a ransom (even more unlikely), then one of these would be nice to make a matching pair..  [the one on the left] But more likely, I've been sniffing around for one of these, which I think is a good match too...

KK, yep, that one's been relisted a few times.  1500 euro's is a bit optimistic....  :o Unrestored I've seen them starting at around 300 euro's.

A quick question for the electrically non-challenged....    Are two piece heating elements normally wired in series? My old 1500W element has the bars running horizontally (A-B, and C-D), and a jumper connecting one leg of each (B-D).  I dug out the multimeter and if I add together the resistance of each bar individually (A-B, + C-D), it equaled the resistance measured from the non jumpered terminal of each bar (A-C)  confused?  ??? Here's a pic of the old element, and a simple wiring diagram....  Any coments?  (and yes it will be checked by an electrician)

Hi AM,  the 1500W is total.    The baseplate has 900W stamped on one side, and 500W on the other.  Everything is still in parts at the moment, so no chance of anything getting near power just yet...   It was only partially soaked  (lower than the baseplate) in citric acid to clean up the scale.  I have a new element to replace the old one, as the copper is corroded in places and I thought it was likely suspect anyway. Measuring the old one: Impedance of the 500W is 94, and the 900W is about 55. Total across both was 150 Update edit:  The new one which has slightly different element length measured 95, and 50, and is supposed to be 1500W. And here's a clearer pic of both the new and old:

Yes yes KK, I failed primary school maths.....  ;D  ??? I forgot to clarify that the old one was 1400W, the replacement is 1500W because that's all there is....  Unless a custom job which is $$$.. PS.  My 3mm, 0.5 pitch bolts arrived today: :'( :'(  Think they might have shipped me 2.0 or 2.5  by mistake.. I've also been looking around for 1/4" hard drawn copper tube, so I can make up a new fitting for the pstat.  Seems to be rarer than hen's teeth..  Could probably use the soft annealed stuff from aircon / refrigeration but I prefer the firmness of the hard drawn.
