how far will you travel for a great coffee?

While on the sunshine coast recently we went out of our way to seek out amazing coffee - driving 40mins each way to get to Clandestino Coffee Roasters in search of the illusive 'god shot'

(the coffee was grerat btw!)

Which begs the question how far is too far and how far are you willing to travel for a great cuppa?

6-8 times a year 4 hours on the train or car each way. But I have a problem  ::) When in Melbourne 20-30 minutes drive or ride for me wouldn't be a problem chasing a great coffee or meal/coffee. In Melbourne these days however 10 minutes within 10-15km of the CBD will find you that so Melbourneites are spoiled.

lol, I'm lucky I only have to drive 12mins to get there.  8)  I tend to visit other places when I'm out and about with the family, and we are just passing.

We flew to Melbourne, from Brisbane, to check out the coffee. I've driven to Pioneer Roastery (Yandina, Sunshine Coast), about 50 min, when Tim Adams was still there. I've been back but wasn't impressed any more. Maybe an off day

I'd happily drive an hour in each direction but not just for a take-away cuppa and it would have to have something for the Mrs near the destination or I'd hear about it all the way back.

Probably like muscles has said, about an hour or so. Would be hoping though that if its in the sticks there would be something else to do nearby, or on the way back.

Well, when I was living out home (and younger, drunker and sillier)  I'd drive over an hour to the pub just outside of Mungindi for a Tamworth Pie which they used to sell there. So no different for a recommended fine coffee......although these days something of interest for the good lady would help. She does understand my compulsion though, and is growing to appreciate the finer brews herself these days. So we'd probably make a day of it.

I will travel to my kitchen every day Its been the best coffee for several years I will however visit my Uncle/aunties cafe in West End and make my own But I actually visit to get the gossip and feast on some of the best taverna style Greek food KK

I make the pilgrimage to Melbourne once or twice a year from Perth checking out the latest additions to the specialty coffee scene and also my favourites, cupping at Market lane is always at the top of my list, Cafe Biz/Beanology was a highly caffeinated weekend for me

We planned our trip to brisbane recently around a visit to dandelion and driftwood - and it was well worth the effort !

I do love KK's answer and as soon as the wife gives me the go ahead on the RoburE, Slayer and 15kg Probat I'll only have to walk to the front door for greens delivery.  Until then, I am prepared to travel for coffee as long as I take the small one with me freeing my wife up to make her jewelry. Hobbies... Us??? Even our real jobs are hobbies... singers/conductors!

at least 1/2hr for a good one; that's my only problem I just can't drink the crap stuff any more, so I always end up travelling further than I'd like to!! dR
