After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

My new tamper - yet again

edited January 1970 in Accessories
Yess I know that a Tamp can only apply so much pressure and that the water pressure applied to the group; be it at 9bar or above, is so much more forceful...

I just got to have more tamps  ;D

Got a super special coming, direct from the designer and I am over the moon...

I present they are no longer available or in production, but who knows what the future may hold...

Pics will follow... maybe  :-*

  • Come on AM - you can't keep us hanging - more info and photos please!
  • I cant see why AM cant just turn one in wood Although it will probably be a little light, it will be different KK
  • Has not arrived as yet but think of an Innovative Australian Designed tamper that is no longer available
Angelo Demartis - Demaral Tamper KK
  • What happened?  I was all set to buy one of them ages ago when I had the San Marino then the website disappeared.
  • I remember them also Lacheim.  Perhaps AM can shed some light on what became of Angelo and his tampers?
  • Pictures pictures pictures... are we there yet... Pictures!!!  I didn't want one even though I loved the concept.  Now I can't have one I really want one  ::)

Uh Oh... we may have a Mexican Tamp-off.  For the newbies a Tamp-off is like a Tamp-on only nobody makes commercials with girls frolicking at the beach for a Tamp-off. Tamp, Tamp, Tamp... ;D

I am going to sing that to the Monty Python " Spam Spam Spam" tune  :) :) :) Spam Spam Spam wonderful spam Tamp, Tamp, Tamp wonderful Tamp KK
  • Angelo probably could have sold more if he put more effort into the website.  No prices or online shop/ordering process.  It's a pity he just dumped the design and all the work he did to get it to market.  What's he doing now AM?
  • I must be one of the few who received a tamper from Angelo :) Here's a pic showing it beside my Pullman which is now sold.  The Demaral is much better IMHO. Rusty

I found I was tamping unevenly - on an angle - with the Pullman. With the Demaral, once the dose is consistent the tamp nevers varies.
  • I really wanted one But Angelo never got in touch with me, and over time I just forgot about it AM if you have any communication with the maker or know of another tamper ? KK
  • Why not buy the design off him AM.  Then you can knock them up in your shed :)  I will have a 45mm one for the lusso.  :)
  • If someone else started producing them again I'd be up for one too, it was one of the first tampers I looked at but found out at the same time that they weren't available any more.

  • ;) Good Morning to you all. This is Angelo Demartis of Demaral Tampers. The answers to most of your questions (Speculations) are. No! No! No! and so on. No! I have not given up on the coffee industry. No! The design is not for sale. As this would render my new designs next to useless. No! The patent attorney wouldn't be happy  with some of the other suggestions. I am currently working at the Vic Desalination Plant, had an accident, just recently had spinal surgery at Epworth hospital (6/10/2011) it will be six weeks before I can return to some of my normal duties and even longer before I can jump on my Lathe. To you KK my promise (Some nine Months ago) to send you my new design tamper with pressure adjustment still stands and you will be the first to own one just need some time to recover from some of the "Crap" I've been through. The option of sending it O/S for production is not an option, this would defeat the purpose of an "All Australian" product! We do have very good Engineering Co's here, why should I give jobs to an O/S Mob. Cheers for now, must take my Meds! If anyone is interested in getting the news from the horses mouth you can contact me.
  • Welcome Angelo and thank you for making contact with all of us.  You have a great looking product and an obvious passion for Aussie Design and innovation.  It's sad to hear that your journey of late has been anything but easy.  Here's hoping that life will treat you well very soon and you can start once again hitting the forums and shops with your great looking products!  Thanks again for contributing!
  • Yiasou Angelo  ;) Mate I have also come close to death some short months ago I do hope you will overcome complications from your accident In my lay up time I have been busy inventing The 2 that I think could possibly be great 1 Medical device 1 palm frond cutter / shredder  So I recommended that you use your lay up time inventing It may work better while under the meds  ;) Meds did wonders for song writers (you know what I mean  ;)) Get well soon mate KK
  • Angelo, it's great to see you getting back into circulation :) You have been missed by many who were concerned about your wellbeing. I look forward to seeing the Demaral tamper taking its rightful place in the tamper market. Best wishes, Rusty Ken Russell
  • Looking forward to the day when your tamper solves my leveling issues Angelo - great to have you here.
