TV Coffee Culture show

Thought i might let everyone know that Channel Ten network has at 1pm WST a coffee show called "Coffee Culture"

At this point in time i don't know if it's going to be a regular segment or a one off.

I have sent emails to all networks asking their opinion about running a TV segment on all things coffee.
Have got 2 responses including Channel Ten.

I would have preferrred the ABC run something like this since they're not driven on a commercial money making incentive.

Anyway, would be interesting to see how it looks and will give my own feedback and also welcome others for theirs.

Yes Gary I got to watch approx 3/4 of this show It only finished approx 30 min ago I happened to be channel surfing after making coffee and just sitting on the lounge to drink it I saw on the program guide Coffee Culture  on Channel 10 I was very glad that it was Australian content Do you know if its the only show made or its a short series ? KK

Thanks KK, That's a start. Will see if the other networks catch on. I thought it would be worth asking them since the general public out there drink coffee and they can relate to it, like cooking. Will be back in an hour n let u know what i think of the program. Gary at G

Never been to pellegrinis, but it it's on my list to visit. I think ambience and the fact it has been around forever count. Also, apparently, they do good pasta.

Apparently, they were one of the first cafes in CBD area (besides a couple in Lygon St) to install an espresso machine all those years ago. Last time I was in there, they were still using coffee from the company that supplies the supermarket and just about any grocery store.

Trading on being the best of the former generation I reckon. Bit like using awards on a bottle of wine for a different vintage. Without wanting to start a war Melbourne has changed again in the last year or so as some of the 'best' from then have spread out and not kept the standards. The 'best' when I was working in Melbourne 10-20 years ago would be no where near the top level now either

If anyone's interested in a series by Channel Ten, then you need to contact them and let them know you're interest. Spoke to them and certainly, they mentioned the more people they get feedback from, then the chances are greater for more programs to be produced. So go ahead, pick up the phone and tell them coffee culture in australia needs a regular coffee show to inform, educate and entertain. Gary at G

Sorry for the late reply KK. That was just a one off event. Some had a feeling there would be more follow ups, but alas, was not to be. Perhaps they were testing the waters and trying to gauge viewers feedback. As i mentioned before, the more feedback they get, the more chances more shows may follow. Subject items then can be more specific, like the world barista championship, internet based coffee shopping and forums, cafe crawls and reviews, retailers, news and events etc etc. I've put in my 2 cents worth to all the freeview stations. Up to everyone here to spend a few minutes on the phone or letters to them if you would like something better than COPS, Judge Judy, The Big Race, X Factor et al. Gary at G

Thanks KK. What they do is collect data from people who contact them. Not so much as to note what you said, but to tick down how many positive or  negative feedback they get. So it comes down to figures and maths. As a commercial station, the more people that view their programs the more exposure their advertisers get, who in turn provide revenue to the station to sell their products and services, the better.
