After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

What a nice story, regardless of your opinion of the roasting or brewing methods, this what travel is all about, being in the right place at the right time.
Heather and I had a similar experience in Northern Thailand a few years ago when the owner of a tea plantation invited us into his home, his delightful daughter served us Oolong tea with great ceremony, we spent a convivial couple of hours with them. :)
PS, I suspect the lady in the photo is pouring coffee not tea.

Yes... how rare to read something non-xenophobic and not pitched to the lowest common denominator.  Very refreshing!  Thanks for posting DB.
  • Yes, very nice story! Reminds me of my honeymoon when the wife and I got invited to Korotonga village in Fiji for a kava ceremony, next day it was a lovo, then more kava - will never forget the hospitality of the villagers. We ended up cancelling all our tours and leisure activities to spend the week in the village. It sure puts life in perspective when strangers can open their hearts and homes and expect nothing in return.
  • yes, have to say it makes a change from the usual 'doom & gloom' stuff we get served up by the main media! A :thumb:
