A bit more playing around - the boiler light definitely flickers on about 1/4 of the time when turning the machine on or off. I know nothing about this pressure valve - would a backflush help? (I do a water backflush on a daily basis anyway).

In a fit of hopefulness I tried turning on the machine this morning - so far, all good. If it continues working I think I'll still take it in far a checkup, but on a more relaxed schedule.

Splendor was sold in December before I could even list it here.  My Anal ways preceded me and a price too good to refuse was paid.  It was sad in a way because it would have been an awesome machine for work.  My only worry is that somebody may have looked at it too hard or heavens forbid lay a finger on him.  A bit of rewiring courtesy of AM would have fixed em but alas my wife overheard the offer and the deal was sealed.  Diadema are unbelievably good machines for the price and sadly one of my friends was astute enough to know this

Shoot me a message (or start another thread, as it may be of interest to others) and let me know what kind of features you want it to have. I don't bother with any DVR function, for example, because I prefer to just download my TV - makes things a lot simpler.
