After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.
Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.
Roll out of the National Electrical standards etc
As some of you may have noticed ON ebay / Bunnings and any number of spare part suppliers...
There is a Warning as to the fitting of said part; if it is defined as an item that would breach electrical safety if a non licensed person was to fit.
In addition at Bunnings, staff are under strict instructions not to provide certain advice as to a product install etc; other than to advise the the shopper gets an electrician to fit the said item.
I am also aware that some places will no longer supply some parts that are dreamed non user replaceable or will only provide items listed as USER replaceable consumables. With other spare only available to qualified repairers.
My $350 magi lamp died after 2 years and while I first thought tube; it turns out that the supply has died. This is a small cct board that generates the special voltages / frequencies etc to drive the T5 28W tube.
