hello everyone we have a cafe and this morning my son sends me a picture of a coffee in a pot and ask if we do that. We dont but iam interested is this a new trend does anybody have a veiw on it thanks.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Café_au_lait served with a pastry preferably a croissant. Not my thing as generally french coffee is horrid Small Asian type bowls of 200-220ml however without handles I have seen done in Melbourne and I have a couple of small hand made pots I like to use.

latte in a bowl used to be quite common in NZ. that was a few years ago now though, don't know if they still do it.

I believe that the Brunswick east project still do it - I think it's a great idea as long as you use a double shot as standard and the bowls aren't massive - they were all the rage in NZ in the mid 90's!

Yes, I remember that was the standard 'latte' in NZ n the early '90's; i.e. they didn't do a latte 'glass' at all; I remember it wasn't as bad [diluted] as it sounds - at least in the place I had it - they used to make it with a double-shot as standard, which meant it still had a fair bit of body/flavour. Am not sure where things are on that now tho. A

The bowl thing reminds me of the Betty-Blue that was served as a Latte in an oversized mug.  Forget the coffe chain that did it but you had to LOVE a big milky coffee to survive one.
