Where to stay near Laidley, QLD

We're off to Laidly next weekend for a wedding. A precocious 2 year old and newborn in tow.

Most of the places in the immediate vicinity are booked out. Whispers is ridiculously expensive. We don't want to stay at some really crappy hotel - too hard with kids.

Happy to travel up to 30 mins from Laidley if necessary, but the closer the better!

Also... cafe recommendations are required. 😉

Not sure about places to stay as I stay with family when out there, but the best coffee is probable the coffe club at plainlands. :stir So in other words, take your own if possible. Or if you find something worthwhile, please share as I have not

Stayed at the hattonvale motel before. It was clean and comfy. Only had one sprog at the time though. Good if you just want a bed southbound. Gattons only up the road. Try there! Should be plenty of accom. Never found a good coffee anywhere. Drink tea or beer! Have fun and enjoy the day.

I drove past http://www.hattonvalemotel.com/index.php every day for 7 years. It was rumored to be basic but clean. Give em a shot.

Aaannnnddd..... we've decided not to go. We realised that rather than spending 7 hours in the car across two days (additional hours for getting to and from wedding venue and hotel) with a newborn and a toddler and then going to a wedding where one bub won't eat the food and likely try to run up on stage with the betrothed and then.... We'd rather just stay home, dump the boy on his grandparents and catch up on some sleep.

Sage shellfish washed down with some delicious sleep. Have to admit I was wondering if you were barking mad considering a wedding and a weekend in a motel with the little ones but you never did specify whether this was a wedding to enjoy or a wedding to destroy!

Or just repeating past glories. We took Ol to the Hunter Valley when he was three weeks old too.
