Grinder Advice - again

Hi guys - one of the things we have been finding (from numerous forum members and from people who have been doing my consumer coffee basics course), is that people don't know much about grinders, nor where to get them. bubu, I think because the Macap can challenge the Mini's position as the perceived premium home grinder. Not so much killing the Mini, but its position at the top of the tree. To my understanding they are comparable machines. The primary difference is the Mazzer having infinite grind adjustment and the Macap having stepped. For people who need to switch between different grinds for different brew methods often, I'd think the Macap is a more functional machine. If you primarily use one method/grind then the Mini probably has the edge. Regards, Gary

Hello bubu, I took it from your post that you understood the phrase "mazzer mini killer" to mean.....a killer in terms of price.... Afraid not. It's a phrase that was published at the conclusion of a very favourable review of the grinder by a respected organisation where it was understood to mean, that the reviewer thought the Macap M5 is a very serious challenger to the "reputation" for quality of the MM. Quality is not something that ordinarily comes cheap and realistically, the two grinders, from two different manufacturers, are pitched at the same market and are comparable in quality, cost and price. This Forum is simply bringing you a range of grinders from the smallest to the largest, that are all excellent grinders in their respective market sectors! Regardz, FC.
