After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Hi guys - a bit about the 'green bean' health fad - apparently tastes terrible [surprise, surprise] but effective in gaining weight loss: http://greencoffeebean-reviews.com

  • Could not read it due to a browser threat that was blocked. Just on this topic in general.........High antioxidant and weight lose targeted coffee products....... The number of people who have approached us to engineer a similar type product for them in Australia is nothing short of astounding. Wannabe entrepreneurs looking to make $$M$$ - according to those who are trying to replicate the trends in the US and Europe. In addition this type of product, there are also the people creating "special secret antioxidant herbs" that are added to the coffee beans during the roasting process - generating a product that is the equivalent of a Youth Serum. Just like the Cher song........."If I could turn back time". After wasting hours trying to explain to wannabe millionaires that if you add a small amount of herbs to the roaster at any point during the roasting cycle it will be trapped in the cyclone, burnt or reduced to tiny particles that emit up the chimney. My guess is those creating the products are simply throwing a sprinkle of simple herbs & spices in the tray when the beans are cooling and agitating and that's about it. Nothing special really. Alas, there is more than one roasting company in the US playing Pied Piper to those poor souls claiming to have a special, secret, patented process that adds considerable antioxidant value to the roasted coffee bean product, enabling them to sell the coffee in small packs at Health Food stores for 4x - 8x the market rate. Innovative marketing ? A proposed Australian distributor of the US products when asked what the US products tasted like when they made a cap or lartey here in Australia.... "it's a bit stale - no aroma, slightly bitter, weak flavor and does'nt taste very good at all, that's why I want an Australian roaster to make it for me". But at least gave off the faint aroma of some types of herbs. When the prospective Australian distributor of a US product probed further with the US company using a set of my Dorothy Dixer questions - the US company refused to respond. Where is the hirsute "Shame, Shame, Shame......." when you need him !
  • Jeff, if I had of read your post in the mainstream media I would have wept tears of happiness.  Perhaps a Crema Magazine article??  Just a thought...
  • apparently "Chlorogenic acid works by attacking the fat cells and the acid is ONLY present in the unroasted green coffee beans. Chlorogenic acid works by slowing the absorption of sugar or glucose into the bloodstream. The result of this slowdown is to slow down the release of insulin which controls the blood sugar levels" apparently that's the theory [& don't shoot me, I'm only the messenger] - I certainly don't endorse it!! A :coffee2:
