AZKOYEN - how annoying!

I'm about to start using a new Azkoyen Vienna, but am unable to come up with anything on the machine other than technical stats.  

Has anyone out there in cyber-land got or used a new / recent model Azkoyen, and what can you tell me about its good points / faults?

Hey mate, We use an Azkoyen Vienna in my cafe`, and for a long time we have been wondering why the coffee puck (used) always has holes in it! We worked it out the day...the machine has no pre-infusion system. ie the coffee gets blasted with water immediately after hitting the pull button, rather than a small amount of water being released onto the surface of the puck before extraction begins. So for what my opinion is worth, i would look at buying another machine. The ECM range is awesome IMO if you haven't got the big bucks to spend on a La Marzocco. I think the ECM Veneziano looks a lot sexier than the La Maz aswell Happy shopping!

Re: "used puks with holes in...said to be caused by lack of pre-infusion cycle".     Errm, afraid that whether the pre-infusion cycle is available or not is not necessarily anything to do with the above. Although it is very often caused by under filling the quantity of grinds in the coffee filter, or  other operational practice.       Regardz, FC.

Well, the news is all good.  With my new four group Azkoyen coffee machine, and a new supplier on board, I have managed to significantly boost both volume (averaging over 700 coffees per day and still counting) and quality control. And because we are now using a 'premium' product, we are also seeing a far better return on investment, as we've managed to up the asking price on the coffee, and gained many new converts in the process, without (I hope) loosing too many of the old ones! As for the machine being responsible for sloppy pucks, I would have to say the the resoponsibility their lies squarly with the barista. With our newly acquired Titanium bladed La Chimmbali industrial grinder, we are maintaining incredible consistency (not to mention volume) with the grind, and I would wager that you could put someone's eye out if you through the puck at them!
