After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Looking for someone to start a cafe up in our media, design and arts hub

Hey there,

My partners and I have set up a large commercial sized Art, Media and design hub right on Johnston street in Abbotsford.

It's literally across the road from victoria park station, with a good street front that would suit a cafe.

We are looking for a someone who is keen on setting up their own operation/cafe in the front of our building.

There would be a constant flow of business due to the fact that this place is filling up fast with creatives from all disciplines.
We are also constructing two film studios and a music recording studio, so people will want coffee 24/7.

If you know of anyone who's looking to set up their own coffee outlet, please do put them in touch.
Below is a link to an ad I used for sourcing other types of tenants a while back. This has a little more info on what we are creating over here at Mycelium Studios as well as a few snaps.

If anyone is keen please get in contact: enquiries via PM (edit)
A meet, greet and tour of the joint can be organised. Very exciting times!

Hope this finds you all well,

  • Welcome.  As this is a coffee forum we do hope that you'll stick around and contribute to the discussions. My first discussion point would be that the cafe scene is an over saturated market as it is... Or am I wrong??

The "average" cafe scene is filling up fast I agree, but the "knock your socks off" cafe scene are few and far between and usually in obscure locations.  The mainstream ones just punt out coffee flavour stuff, you get some nice ones, and you get some awful ones! Sounds like it could be a good location with lots of traffic, good luck Mycelium Studios.

I can't even think of one, and I have been to all the roasters around here and even crawled around on Brisbane's west end nothing knocks
  • No doubt fellas but Abbotsford in Melbourne is home to some great cafes like First Pour and Three Bags Full.  Not to mention many others that would be your competition.  Sure, set up a St Ali type Sensory type Lab type thingy and you'll have a category killer.  I too secretly hope it happens ;)
