SUNBEAM EM6910 - Steaming milk issues

[size=12pt][size=12pt]When steaming milk the steam wand and machine turn off completely when the milk gets to around 50 degrees.  This has happened a few times now.  What do you suggest?  :tearhair:

Is the machine still covered under warranty? That may be the best way to go around it. Sounds like some sort of safety feature was triggered when you're heating it. Is there enough water supply in the tank when this happened? Care to explain what do you mean by the machine 'turn off completely'? Can it turn on afterwards?

Unfortunately not under warranty. There was enough water in the tank and the machine wont come on straight away which is annoying.

Definitely sounds a lot like something overheated and the thermal safety kicked in. If it is the thermal fuse, it shouldn't reset itself automatically. So I'm ruling that out. Maybe it's the control board nearing its end? I may be totally off-bat there though, so let's hope that's not the case because it's no easy/cheap fix. Another possibility is scale built up. If your area has hard water and your machine went by a long while without descaling, a layer of scale may have formed inside. When that happens, the thermoblock needs to heat up much hotter to produce steam. That would cause extreme heat in the machine as well  (like when your PC is overheated it will shut of by itself. ) Lastly, you may also consider posting over in the Coffeesnob forum as they seem to have more Sunbeam users there.
