After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

Hi. I'm new here

Hi guys.

I'm new here but have been a long time lurker.
I've been an espresso drinker for years and I started my coffee drinking journey when I was younger drinking Turkish.

I've got some little tiny gear to give me my fix. A VBM Jnr and a Macap M2M.

Below are a few pics of my coffee bar at home, aka the shrine.

Drop a line and say hello [emoji3]

Thanks for the welcome. The bench is a slab of tropical teak 1900l x460-500 x 85thick The legs are also slabs of the same. Total dimensions are 1900l x460-500w x 900h Yes keeping it clean is a full time job and I've got my routine streamlined over the last few months. [emoji3]
  • Hi GeekKopi and welcome. I saw your setup elsewhere but you hadn't finished setting it up. It is absolutely gorgeous, you have done a stunning job :).

thanks mate. I finished setting it up yesterday. Mrs is happy that the gear is off the kitchen Benchtop. [emoji41] It used to be like this
  • You're welcome. I swapped my DeLonghi Icona for a Unico Splendor today and as much as I love it I am already lamenting the loss of my bench space  ???.
  • Wow... Pictures pictures.  Unico Splendor is my favourite looking machine!!  Pft, who needs bench space when there's awesomness atop it! Congratulations all round!

....or do what I did. Make a coffee bar. (A hall table would do the job) I find the experience is more enjoyable now that I have a dedicated cafe in the home. All that is missing is a sink and a bar fridge but they are only a few steps away. Of course it is subject to room but give it a go.
  • I have thought of that but we have a small house, hubby is not exactly a diy person and with a 2 year old running around it really needs to be up and out of the way. One day maybe :).

I've got a little one due next month but she won't be getting into things for a few months. Can't wait to make her babycinos.
  • Congratulations, then the fun will really start  :P.

Congrats here too!  The birth of my first 6 years ago signalled my purchase of the Unico Splendor as an upgrade from Rocky.  Imagine my shock that such a great machine didn't come with an intravenous drip attachment.  GK, you're going to need it mate ;) Enjoy every moment...ninety grow fast!!

Birth and machine upgrade- great thinking. Might need to buy a 'push present' for myself instead of the wife. Maybe a 2 group Izzo lever??? Now that will be the go.
  • Not exactly new, but  been else where/when for a while. Bit pissed off at the lack of hoverboards. So what happened to the chat? Anyway, howdy y'all. Still drinking home roasted coffee (hottop survived recent self-immolation with minimal scarring), but  have even lowered my standards to 7-11 short blacks on occasion (don't ask). UN-M
  • Welcome back to the future mate!  7-11 espressos is a lot for one day... You'd better cut down!
  • Welcome back +2 UNM. How did it feel to get sucked through a wormhole and spat out again? I gave up on the mobile coffee van thing just to make my wife happy cough cough ! Hope all is well there. geez. I dont drink as many shots as you. Now I dont feel so bad sipping 6 shots a day working as a barista. [emoji4]
  • I now work for the state gov. Still focussed on customer service, but I now get fixed hours and paid holidays - real luxury after a decade of self-employment. All well here in Melb. Still using the little caravel as  my espresso m/c of choice, but also drinking a fair proportion of siphon coffees. Usually I only have a couple coffees a day.
