After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

All quiet on the western front.

No action as yet this morning so guess I had best get the ball rolling.

Not sure if everyone is recovering from the weekend or preparing for Easter.

Spoke to Heather a while ago, tells me she and family visited the National Air and Space Museum in Washington D.C. yesterday, very impressed. :)

  • I've just being reading and tinkering, shopping and pottering around the house. All a little boring really. I did get a message from my high school best friend on FB, we haven't seen each other for 23 years so we chatted for a couple of hours last night and we are planning to catch up in the not too distant future. To be honest it has thrown me quite a bit, we have quite a bit of history, but I am super excited about us being part of each others lives again. That National Air and space museum looks really interesting DB, it's a safe bet I'll never see anything like it :D.
  • Great news re your friend Sue, we tend not to value real friends highly enough, most of us have lots of good time acquaintances, these seem to come and go, real friends that stick by you through good and bad are few and far between. ;)

Indeed, and usually taken for granted because they are just....there... But, that's enough philosophising on my part. Today @ 4.45pm (EST) there will be an interview during the Drive Time programme on ABC radio 666. I've been a little active this morning trying to tell as many people in the local area as possible of Bean!Roasters wins at AICA (Aust Internat Coffee Awards), and why not? So there is stuff happening... ;) ******************** Today I also fitted a wifi pick up device to my home computer, which was previously connected to the modem/router by the usual hard cabling. Now working wirelessly in the house, I cant believe how much (read-significantly) faster the internet connection is working, off the same modem (a wifi modem using the Data plan from my mobile connection...). Unbelievable, cant explain why but dont care its great.
  • Back to work for me today.  Enjoyable day but having a flat white now and feeling like I've earned it!

Just logged on a few minutes ago Atillio, sorry missed the program, all good publicity. :thumb: Re WiFi connection, went down that path a while back, good while it worked but had to revert to a cable when I experienced problems with the internet connection. Having said that we now use a laptop and Ipad wireless on the same modem, so, perhaps things have resolved themselves. :-|

So, so true DB. It's been a long time and I am really looking forward to catching up. Funny thing is it isn't like we argued and parted ways or anything, we just, I don't know, lost contact or something  :(.

I get the feeling it will be like we have never been apart when we catch up, but it sure will be strange, in a good way of course. Good luck with your wireless, ours gives us nothing but grief sometimes.

    It happens. :)
  • It does, unfortunately :(.
  • After years of service with no problem, we started having problems with tell-strarh's landline and ADSL. Long story short....They couldn't give a fig including to fulfill their own GUARANTEE to have (their) problems fixed in a certain time period. After 9 MONTHS of poor service, lack of regular connectivity both landline and ADSL (often dead), we asked them to respectfully shove it due to inability to perform while still taking all our money. We were released from the balance of the "contract" without penalty. Landline cut off. Since then we have been *relying* on mobile phones and data connection for internet, the problem being the slowness of the internet connection (may as well have been back in 56k land....but at least the connection was there. All of a sudden yesterday per above, the speed of connectivity significantly increased immediately I disconnected the CAT5 cable (hardwire) connection between the wifi router/modem and the main home computer. This increased the speed of both the main computer, as well as the home laptop which has always had a wireless connection. It seems the cable connection between the wifi router and the desktop computer somehow slowed all connectivity including wifi from the router to the other devices, being the laptop and 2 mobiles. While there have been months of frustratingly slow connection, I am very happy with the current situation and hope it continues...
  • I'm.now living in the hinterland on the sunny coast! Bye Melbourne! Anyway tel-strah wanted to charge an arm and s leg for limited connectivity plus additional call costs for local calls - so I went with I select - same price but unlimited calls and 3x the data allowance! Problem solved !
  • Have to say that overall I'm very happy with Telstra, we have a home line, 2 x mobiles and ADSL with them, seldom experience problems. :)
  • Afraid it's a horror story out here Jon. While they have the best infrastructure/coverage, there are black spots everywhere in the mobile network, plus landlines that are not being kept in serviceable condition. And of course their lip service is just as bad....
  • Guess you can only call it as you find it A, many moons ago we went with Optus for a short (very short) period, now that was a nightmare.
