After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

edited January 1970 in Off-topic
Hi guys - spring issue should be at newsagents tomorrow; subscribers should also be getting their issue tomorrow.

We've done a bit of a re-design - as usual, any feedback most welcome!

  • mate - what a fantastic mag! you guys continue to excel yourselves!  Congratulations on a great looking layout with fab content! cheers, Pat
  • Thanks Pat - really appreciate the feedback! FYI we promised to get some video of Jack Hanna doing his latte art up on the site, and we're hoping to get that up during the next week. -A
  • Awesome, can't wait!!  Love the new font on the front cover by the way.  Just one tiny little thing to point out though.  The Diamond Italia home espresso was mentioned a few times through out the mag, and most of the time it was listed as having a RRP of $2,200 but on one of the pages it has a RRP of $2,400.  A tiny thing but i thought i'd mention it because it's just a little bit confusing.  Congratulations on another fantastic magazine!!
  • thanks mate - problem is have already sacked the editor, now will have to sack the proof reader as well! -A ;D
  • A major improvement on previous issues with more relevant content.  And the cover looks awesome as well, setting the mood for the atomic era.  Not sure about the relevance of the artist interview.  I can understand the inclusion of the mornington peninsula article(if due to paid advertising), otherwise this loses me as well.  ???
  • I think the thing to bear in mind here is that, correct me if I'm wrong, but Crema is a coffee AND lifestyle magazine, so there is always (unless the format changes) going to be some non coffee specific related content in there The image I have iin mind when I'm reading the mag, is of a person sitting in a cafe, with their favourite cup of Joe, flicking through the mag, happy to peruse a variety of articles whilst they enjoy their morning cuppa! Cheers, Pat
  • Pat, I do definitely understand what you are saying, but even when magazines go off on a side note, they normally have some association with the initial topic.  Maybe choose artists who have an interest in coffee so that can also be mentioned.   The magazine is not a large one(page-wise) and to lose a number of pages on non-coffee related items is major, at least in my opinion.  Once you take away the two pages dedicated to music and book reviews and then the ads, how many pages of content do you have?  To lose another 3 pages to non-coffee related articles, doesn't leave room for the issue at hand.   I used to buy a magazine where you wouldn't hit a relevant article until about 40 pages in due to advertising, etc.  The mag was some 140+ pages mind you. I would gladly pay an extra $2 an issue for an extra 4 pages of actual coffee related information(not including ads).
  • Hi there

Pat's got the concept exactly right - we're not an industry magazine - the idea is very much 'lifestyle' with coffee as the basis - which is why we put 'coffee, travel, wine' on the masthead, and describe it as a 'cafe lifestyle' magazine, not a 'purist coffee-only' magazine. -A

    I can't argue with that.
