Me too... Too old, too much smoking and strange food... Thus can not detect Notes and I am tone deaf ;D But I do know what I like, it's just that naming / describing it is not always so easy... Just ask my wife 😉

and as I keep telling my younger baristas, don't worry about describing the flavour to me, just concentrate on whether or not its delicious.

Hi there I am from Sydney Australia, I like long walks on the beach.".......... Oooops wrong site. I love coffee a lot, any type, anywhere, anytime. It really is special. I need help with a machine problem, that is ruining my life! No exaggeration. I live almost 70k's from the nearest coffee shop so it is crucial! Thanks everyone

Start with caramel, cocoa, milk choc, dark choc, carob, bonfire toffee, dark caramel & fudge, and you've got the base of most coffee tasting. Normally you'll find one and only one of those in a coffee. Also, when all of those are missing, the taste you might be experiencing is......'coffee'. It's the woods/herbals/plants/soils which are hardest - after all, who's eaten the middle of an elm tree lately? If you're truly serious about not wanting to read about notes, don't follow me on twitter at any rate - it's all I ever tweet about.

You know those old outside dunnys from quite a few years back? Not sure if they are called long drops - anyways, the smell that they let off (my gran used to have one) is what I tasted recently in a coffee i had. Perhaps the closest description would be (i think) like a rotten egg smell.

AM, if I wanted to read about notes, I'd play an instrument! I suck at describing taste. I've recently decided to give up trying, and trusting those who can.

you shouldn't give up. You already know what things taste like, its just a matter of remembering them & building the neural pathways required to recall the information easily. and like I said earlier, focus on whether it is delicious or not. the rest will come ...

Ok, I am back. It's nice to see that entry to this forum is open again to all rather than being selective. Here to discuss coffee and also to clear some untruths if required. I sincerely hope that won't be necessary. Chris

actually Chris, we haven't had a 'selective' policy before... from memory, you were a member here until you removed yourself a couple of months ago; the only other person we didn't approve was someone who tried to register as 'attack dog' and I don't know any admin/moderator in the world who would let someone register with that proposed username. However, given the reported nasty emails/PMs that you seem to send anyone and everyone who displeases you, and the few that I myself received [until you were consigned to my Junk folder] you are clearly unable to make a positive contribution here, and are not welcome. Hi Dennis [since I assume this is you] - happy to have you on board as long as you obey forum rules & don't spruik your products. The only question I have is why you don't continue with your apparent alias of Coffeedoode, as it has been reported to me that you 'outed' yourself as such on another forum? A

How about we put you on probation Talk Coffee Anything you say will be on record, as we dont delete posts or whole threads So please consider your post content carefully KK

Cuppacoffee

Hello Ashley, yes Cuppacoffee and Dennis are one and the same. I assure you, coffeedoode was/is not me. The suggestion that I outed myself elsewhere is incorrect. Cheers Den

Chris, Based on the venom and bile you have shown toward this forum and the members of recent times I am amazed that you would actually come back to here unless it was to cause trouble. Tim

admin

sorry KK & Bf - have got better things to do with my life & really can't be bothered with him; the ex-TC is the forum's first [& hopefully only ever] banned member. A

A - Awesome! thanks Ashley for running a transparent and open forum where the focus is great coffee and great people.

Thanks for clearing that up Dennis and welcome. I couldn't upon reflection imagine that someone who is a business owner has the time or energy to play forum politics if their product is what comes first; so, I'm glad that I was wrong in assuming that Coffeedude was your cover.

Cuppacoffee

Thankyou Brett, I do appreciate your comments and welcome.
