Have well and truly joined the KKTO mob. Roasted 4 kg since getting it set up. Wrapped with fire blanket and bath towel. A photo here of the first roasted batch of the Ministry Grounds House Blend. Tastes great and pours nicely after a 3 day rest. Using a Homewell Halogen turbo oven bought from Homeart for $39.50. Getting 1st crack at 17-18 min, 2nd crack at 25-27 minutes, though i'm reassured the slow long roast has resulted in a smooth and well flavoured cup. Due to the seemingly long roast times, i use KK's advice of pre-heating at 250 deg for 5 minutes, then add beans and use full power all the way til the end. Could not hear first or second crack, and had to use visual to gauge what stage the beans are. Hoping to sort out the DMM logging sorted out if anyone can give me the link of the spade connecting probe. I don't fancy drilling a hole thru the side for the stainless steel probe, prefer to use the spade type fed from the lip of the roaster. So far very happy with the results of this roaster, though i'd like to learn more about getting the best out of this.
