Domayne on the Gold Coast had a one day pre Xmas sale today. They will have another on Boxing Day with similar specials. The Breville BES900 was 25% off, making it $1125. They had a monitor next to it, showing numerous videos with Phil in them. Did not notice much interest in it, as everyone was being dazzled by the pod machines and superautos. Mind you, all the staff and reps doing demos were well versed in their products. Pity the coffee being made was crap. Being a rep and pushing your brand is difficult in these stores, and the competition is high. But they sold heaps of machines. Loved the fact everyone was offered an extended warranty on all products, along with a possible out of warranty situation; that made the EWP (Extended Warranty Plan) seem great value and peace of mind. I pioneered this over a decade ago when I had a Tandy franchise. I know The Good Guys still use a modified version of my "EWP Sales Strategies" when training their staff. Got to say, that for $1125, it is not a bad machine, I certainly would not want to pay any more for it. Have to have a chuckle at the guy on another forum, who was advocating everyone to buy the BES900 at full price as it was such a good product, and would increase in price. Wise words indeed 😉 These store are used to discounting. Truth be told, their store "wholesale cost" is now the true retail price on most things. They rely heavily on rebates and add-on sales to make profit. Trick is to get them to sell below this, and that can be a lot of fun if you are in the mood. If anyone is looking for one of these, push hard and I am sure you can get them below $1100 without difficulty. As to the "value" of the EWP, I refrain from commenting.
