Hi Lacehim, I'm currently doing 600gm greens to get 500 gm browns so that they fit in the 500gm one way valve bags. If i;m going to do multiple roasts, i will try the recommended optimum size of 700gm greens. Btw, i'm not a gal, so sorry to disappoint you 😃 Kelsey, i was in the same boat as you, so i understand what you're going through, but eventually those feeling will be long gone when you get your hands on them. Took a look at aldi TO's, today. Now I understand how the TO is mounted on the main pot and why it is smaller diameter, I wonder if it wouldn't be easier to: buy an aluminum pot of correct diameter remove TO unit from glass pot lid it comes with Cut a hole in the metal pot lid Remount TO on this a sight glass and bean testing scoop would be useful while cutting things, but I rarely roast by sight these days.

I doubt a drawing would help in this case (especially given my drawing skills).Will try to explain differently. Goal - avoid the need for reducer ring. As delivered, TO has: a glass pot (not needed) A TO unit consisting of electrical bits and glass pot lid with nice big hole in the middle. The actual electrical heart of the unit is fully enclosed and mounted to the glass portion by screws, mounting plate and gasket. Why not swap the large glass lid for a smaller metal one that is designed to fit the roasting chamber selected?

How will you address 1) Volume parameters in the roast chamber that need to be strictly adhered to 2) Insulation needs to be added to reduce heat loss 3) Perforated Insert needs to be manufactured 4) Drive & motor system for a agitation Its a simple design bit it needs to be put together right KK

Just for the sake of this thought exercise, suppose I had all parts of a standard TO kit and made this one change. Any reason not to?

If its this one change - then the adapter ring will do that job It will fit on pots from 24 cm to 31 cm KK

Point is, the adapter ring seems unnecessary to me (and I don't like the aesthetics). So why is it there in the first place (Apart from allowing non DIY types to put everything together easily.)? Does it fulfill any other function

I designed it to have 3 functions - It also holds on to the TO and because of this it becomes one unit Now to the functions 1) It can be used to marry a variety of diameter pots & if necessary it can be used inverted (both ways) 2) It can be used to facilitate other types of heat sources or dual heat To further explain - It can be used in conjunction with a round electric fry pan with single or dual heat sources 3) It is a safety devise to rest the TO in a safe cradle KK

I've been meaning to ask KK - are you still having trouble sourcing pot sets? KMart recently had the right type in their home brand - not sure about the right size tho. Fairly cheap too - about $30 from memory.

Yes we are still having issues with suitable pot sets Thanks I will look into it Edit - have found nothing on the K Mart AU site KK

Sorry guys, Tapatalk doesn't actually store the photos you take on the phone. No pics. Suffice to say it looks like a normal potset, 24cm has both the pasta insert and the colander and bakelite handles.
