Mine was waiting on my doorstep when I got back from my time away this afternoon. Very happy it rocked up - I have absolutely no roasted coffee left 😮

Mine arrived today - thanks RM. Although, I was just a bit confused as to which one was the Blend and which is the SO :laugh:. Will be tasting in a few days. My palate today was blown up from tasting a coffee by one of Sydney's leading specialty roasters (which will not be named) - lingering unpleasant sourness.

I received mine today from a drug dealer. :rofl: Yes, it actually said "Suprise, Drugs R US" on the sender info of the bag!!!! Couldn't help myself and punched the tracking number into Austpost website, and it came from Port Fairy! So, Jonty are ya my secret dealer? It came on the same day as my new 240Gb SSD, and I opened the beans first! 🙂 Well if you are thank you. I got 2 bags of roasted. Only detail was "Single 26/07" and "Blend 26/07", so ready to consume now and I'll be cranking out a few shots on my lusso, and tasting as espresso, long black and milk based. Thoughts so far. The Single, well massive difference in size of the beans, tiny and large. Haven't tasted it yet. The size difference has me thinking. I wonder what it is! The blend, roasted a little lighter than my roasts (I usually roast to R2C and dump) so it will be interested to try a slightly lighter roast. A few beans that look under roasted mixed in. A few peaberry's in there too. 🙂 Anyway, got the blend in the grinder, and had a latte. Shot came out lovely, with nice dark crema ring. 🙂 Maybe because they are a lighter roast (ligher than my usual) there was a lot more flavour going on there, can't really describe it, but not what I usually aim for. But that's what this is all about and it's nice to try something different. It was an enjoyable coffee, which is what it's all about.

Got to get you into the Siphon thing and bump the temp a little 😉 Last bag I got from M in Sydney for Espresso was great as a brewed coffee as I decided from the get go it was never going into the machine. I will get into my swaps tomorrow as the grinder was loaded for the day when they arrived. I will just call mine Secret Squirrel Blend and Single as the roasters anonymity was to be preserved hey ShapeShifter :rofl: No Drugs in Port Fairy is there @Jonty, I think Lacehim has been smoking something 8)

BF you never know really who they came from, just because it says something on the bag doesn't mean it's the truth :stir Lacehim I'm loving what was written on your bag 🙂

I too scored a special treat in the post. Everyone is going to be really jealous that I scored the MyCuppa selection. Jeff sent me four wonderful packages of beans that I'll wax lyrical about as I enjoy them. Thank you Jeff for what promises to be a taste sensation (if smell is anything to go by) and thank you Nic for running the show this time. :thumb:

I have beans waiting for me at work, I got a photo today 🙂 My workmate said 'smells like coffee' 😃 Brett seriously no thanks needed, I love doing things like this, I don't mind being the admin person for our swaps, although yes I never get a surprise with the person that gets me in the swap it's still a surprise as to what their roasts are going to be 🙂

My swap person did a blend and a single origin. Both smell great, the blend I'm told was just three of their favourite beans blended together as a 30/30/40 split. The single origin is not an overly large bean and has some peaberrys in it, no idea what it is and can't place the smell yet. Both roasted on the 2nd August so I'd say right to start having a play with. The only problem I have is that I'm at work and I forgot my aeropress, the smell is driving me mad wanting to try them 😃 Blend in bag [attach=1] Single origin in bag [attach=2]

as promised a couple photos of the swap beans I received next to one of my roasts. not sure how easy it is to see, but they are way darker Finished the blend this am. I had a short black and an espresso based long black. works best as SB or ristretto. no good through aeropress. OK as Greek. the aeropress had strong pipe tobacco and wood flavours/scents. as espresso long black, these were still there, but not so dominant. as SB, nicely balanced and full bodied. Crema settled down as it aged. Roasted 27th, far better today than 3 days ago. don't feel capable of guessing the blend. some PNG perhaps? Indian maybe? next up the SO.

Only had a chance to have one of my SecretSq Blends today but nice balance and good lingering finish. Only had it as an afternoon Latte but I will give it a bash tomorrow as long and short blacks and see about some notes. 😉

My wife and I are having an afternoon latte of Jeff's Columbian Supremo Papayan. Yummy!!! Mixed berries and Subtle GREEN APPLE! Thank you MyCuppa...this is just awesome. I've had Lots of Comlumbians over the years but none this refined from memory. :thumb:

Mine arrived in the bag this morning ( a parcel which DIDN'T be intended for daughter dearest who has discovered online shopping) :doh: ;D Bag 1 - Blend: Aromas of roasted peanut skin and choc-co/malt coming straight from the bag - can't wait to try it out in a couple days (roast date 4/8). Bag 2 - A.B. :question: Light/sweet fruity smells coming from the bag. Bag 3 - A.B.B. : Unsure on this one, may need to wait a couple days to get a hang on this. Best description I can give is 'exotic fruitiness'. :coffee2: Thanks for the little extra there to Bottom Line. Cheers mate... :thumb: Am going to hang on to the 7 day mark to try the two bonus bags, the blend will be given first run in the morning.

Tried to bag of Ethiopia Guji through the Aeropress - it tastes great but I think it might be better as an Espresso (quite a dark roast). I won't have access to an Espresso Machine until the weekend so looking forward to trying it then!! Come on now, own up whoever these belong too!?

[attachimg=1 width=400] SS Blend LB this morning still smooth but a little more acidic than I like as a Long Black or Espresso. Improved in flavour as it cooled. No big notes stood out but a nice lingering coffee taste. Back to a few more milk ones after lunch now I have the grinder properly dialed in 🙂

Right, because I want to get people talking more how about we open this all up, I know a few people still haven't got theirs but they shouldn't be too far away. BF already knows I got him due to my flu addled brain and I put down my real name. BF I was wanting to make this a low acid blend, I haven't tried it as a black yet and don't think I will after your comments, lots of frothy crema that looks like 🙂 Obviously I know who sent mine, Lacehim, only roasted on the 2nd, I've tried the blend and it's ok but I do think it needs a little more time, I'm going to try the SO this afternoon.

Not a criticism of the blend about the acid but more a case of at this roast level with this blend it has a better balance for milk based coffees. To get this to a low or lower acid then maybe increase the roast depth a little more or even look at the individual beans and play around. Also make the point that it is not a sour but an acidic taste so a higher temp for brewing won't necessarily change or improve it on that front. With the little I will have remaining tomorrow morning I will pop it through a siphon and give it a whirl. Then on to the waiting for the S/O to mature :coffee2:
