Lacehim, I do not presume to know anything about the wiring of your island bench, but am curious how many powerpoints you have on it, and what appliances are plugged in. You can always do a test by using the toaster, kettle and some other unit at the same time, and seeing the result. In my current premises, the kitchen is pretty much the original early 90's design. I believe we have a number of GPO's daisy chained together, leading to the one circuit breaker, and it has never tripped. We run kettle, toaster, dishwasher and the Bosco all at the same time, with no problems. The intercom unit is patched into the GPO, and had a double adapter with two whopping transformers (taped into place in the wall cavity) plugged in. This has been changed, and a few items like garbage disposal and zip tap have been turned of permanently. You may be ok with a machine with a 2400W element. In my brother-in laws brand new house, the sparky was so good that the toaster and kettle would trip the circuit breaker every time. The sparky told him to use one at a time, and that he was expecting too much. The builder rectified the fault, but it is pretty common these days.
