difference in beans roasted on the same date

I have 2 different beans roasted on the same date and,

without changing the grind and on the same day, I have to put most of my 88kg weight on the tamper with one

bean and with the other bean the weight of the tamper it's self is enough to get the same 25 sec. 30ml flow from each.

both drinking well now.

how is this possible?

different beans, different density + different roast = differing brittleness, fines production & resistance to h2o. times in the roaster & depths of roast will make a difference; initial ramp & moisture levels for different beans will lead to difference in elasticity of bean & resistance to grinding. processing of the beans too makes a significant difference, naturals can often have 'more' soluble solids & hence pour slower, washed coffee has lost some something like 1% of the most soluble solids according to illy & so may put up less resistance & pour quicker different beans = difference in resulting cups

great first post Zane! since I grind by hand i notice a big difference in the hardness of the beans, seems the harder the bean the more impeadence required to slow the flow.
