re: judging a machine by a shot ... my bad, I misunderstood! sorry! Apparently, David Schomer (the espresso-god) spent some time with the brewtus at the ASCAA/WBC coffee festival thing, and his comment was that, in his opinion, the brewtus is the best home espresso machine around. Impressive! As for the boxiness, it must have grown on me - I was considering the expobar leva (identical to the 2 boiler brewtus, but with a single boiler/hx) and thought it was quite nice. I'm settling for a cheaper expobar, basically the same but less bling. More boxy and plain looking. Service for expobar in aus seems good. A coffeegeek in melbourne owns one and had some problems early on. They were easily fixed by the distributor down there, and Rob reassures me that if I have any problems, the people at Forsyth's can fix them for me. I get the feeling that as the Brewtus gets officially released here, the service will improve. As for specs regarding boiler size and 2000W elemtents, I'm really not sure - I saw it's guts, but I don't know the specs. The boilers looked big enough - quite possibly 2l. If you get in touch with Forsyth's, you could ask them - they've got one of the three test models in Aus. Rob's a nice guy, and he's been really helping me out with my upgrade-quest. As for the e61 group - most e61 groups are replica's apparently. From what I can remember, it's a long story, but basically only faema's and ECM's and maybe one or two other models use 'real' e61's, and it all had something to do with the guy who invented it, and a guy who worked with him and licensing etc etc. The others (replica's) work pretty much the same (or maybe exactly the same, at least the same methodology), and from what I can gather, they give the same output. Anyone else who knows more than me, feel free to correct me! ps: I know I probably sound like a fan-boy for the expobars ... I guess I am. I'm just so happy to finally find a good hx machine that functions as well as an ECM, but so much cheaper! They're ugly, but perfect for me! edit: Patrick, I emailed you a link you might be interested in
