#1 How do you normally connect to your external DAC? USB, Firewire or standard audio jack? #2 It depends. If the Win 8 tablet is more like a laptop - i.e. it recognises and mounts harddrives like a normal computer - then it should be fine accessing NAS. The problem with wireless NAS however is unmounting on sleep or other situations where the connection is unexpectedly dropped. It's probably not terrible, but you'll get a warning about it.
