Now that's a very good question... I cannot properly answer without mentioning that personal circumstances beyond my control and 'ducking' when I should have 'weaved' have left me quite financially crippled... As poor as a church mouse until around mid 2014, or so.... Quite humbling but cathartic all the same... A good opportunity to clear the deadwood, so to speak... Recently I found my Franchisee moonlighting so I terminated his franchise which means that whole 'project' has gone on the back burner too- it's a very expensive sand-pit to play in.... Worst thing is I've had to suspend my membership in Mal Emery's Platinum Group; that's a thousand a month necessity I will have to live without, for a little while... So, now, for the time being I find myself back on the tools and being the man in the van, so to speak... So, under 'Normal' circumstances I would have simply ordered a Londinium I and built an appropriate 'shrine' to coffee. (Builder :-) ) Not Gonna Happen Now... Why Londinium? Because I like what Reiss is trying to achieve.... Whether he has hit his mark or not is yet to be seen- but I would have been happy to support his ideals.... So, back to current reality... After buying the Presso from a C-Snob, I very quickly learnt I had very limited control over the extraction process. Ie; limited pressure capability and control and very loose temperature control, at best. You see I'm a Tradie so I like and appreciate hand tools and the self-control required to extract the best from them. I am also a perfectionist and a pedant and I am my own worst critic. So, I am also one of those annoying people that excels at everything they do- but it's never 'easy'- I just don't stop till I've mastered something.... Then typically I get bored and move on to the next 'challenge'... Now, the only reason I've explained all that is because with all that in mind I find I am drawn to the Portapresso system like a hand-in-glove fit... As soon as I can wrangle a spare Grand (whole system) I will snap one up and then the fun shall begin... As a side note: I am particularly drawn to the hand screw model- but I do want the device for Motorbike camping- so weight is a premium- I will most likely get the Air model first and the handscrew model when funds allow...
