Koffee_Kosmo Some more progress photos of the broad walk Just the set up stage, prior to fixing in place Timber sleepers are Spotty Gum 200mm Wide X 75mm Thick Have been dressed on the edges and sanded on the visible face to be smooth underfoot They were treated with Cutek CD50 a few days ago [attach=1] [attach=2] [attach=3] KK
Koffee_Kosmo The broad walk is now finished except for a trim and a quick sand where required The timber is bolted down and then the holes were plugged to seal the bolts in Derrilex made the hole plugs from a piece of the same timber Some photos - [attach=1] [attach=2] [attach=3] [attach=4] Now to leave the glue dry overnight and trim, sand, and treat the timber KK
derrilex Brett H wrote: Just brilliant! The timber is unbelievably good! Who's ya supplier?? I use "A Woodshed" at Darra Brett. Just down at Queensland Rd. Mind you, I hand picked every sleeper but there was a fresh pack and probably only 1 out of 3 didn't cut it. The sleepers were 2.4's but we only needed 2 mt which was good because they all had pretty ordinary ends. A good hit with the belt sander and then round the edges over with the router.
derrilex A few more pics to add to KK's. I whacked a tensioner strap under the whole lot to minimise movement and since KK's ipad is too big to get under the board walk I obliged while I was down there tightening the tensioner.
Koffee_Kosmo The deck is now finished as far as the timber work is concerned I have added a small corner section on the left as it looked funny & unfinished Taken the photo fresh after a clean & mop [attachimg=1] See the small angled section [attachimg=3] [attachimg=2] Next stage is the safety fence KK

Koffee_Kosmo I just competed the blending of the old to new work It's the side area of the broad walk section ( see photo in above posts ) As it was a deep area I used some of the soil tailings removed during excavation to partly fill it in Then I used a weed barrier cover to prevent any weed growth Then I used a mixture of 50mm on the bottom and 25mm on top of washed river rocks, as I have these on hand from recent landscaping work. Then I added some pre prepared timber step blocks made from the off cuts of the broad walk sleepers and embedded them into the rocks I believe that I have succeeded to blend, match & complete the finished look Still to come is the glass safety fence and gate KK [attach=1] Looking Good [attach=2] What's an entrance without a feature [attach=3] Reverse view
Koffee_Kosmo Lacehim wrote: I was wondering how you would tart up that little area KK. Looks great! :thumb: Thanks Lacehim It needed to flow and blend from the adjoining section Now I will probably make some more of those timber steps to follow it up the fence line so it blends in seamlessly KK
Koffee_Kosmo Another quick update as the saga continues with my deck and spa indulgence  Over the last couple of days we have fitted the facia and the stainless steel posts for the glass sides [attach=1] a close up of the facia [attach=2] a wide view of the facia [attach=3] the posts fitted ready for glass [attach=4] still to come is the finishing touches KK
Koffee_Kosmo Another update that spans a few days The glass fence is starting to take shape with posts fitted and some glass panels Still to be completed is the gate section and then the skirt around the bottom to hide the underneath [attach=1] [attach=2] [attach=3] [attach=4] KK
Koffee_Kosmo The final build update Finishing touches to the Safety Glass Pool Fence Finishing the side skirt build with access panel A big thank you goes out to the Carpenter Alex from Ringtail Carpentry He is a specialist deck builder that did the most over engineered small deck build, with excellent work and is highly recommended [attach=1]. The Glass Safety Fence [attach=2]. The side skirt [attach=3]. An over the Spa view [attach=4]. And other view for good measure With only -- having a relaxing time in the Spa photos to come -- should I decide to post them  Again thanks go to 1) Spaworld for supply of the Vortex brand Hydro Spa 2) Ringtail Carpentry - Alex, for building a superb deck and safety fence as not one of the specialist fence builders was willing to build / erect one KK
Brett_H Alex's work is breathtaking! Even more galling is that I assume he built it all with awkward hips, joins and spans with consummate ease!?!? What a star and what an amazing job! Many relieving and relaxing dips KK!
derrilex You're too kind Brett. Nothing real flash about this one - just built on the fly as it evolved.
