After the old forum software breaking in a way that we were unable to fix, we've migrated the site to a new platform.

Some elements aren't working as we'd hoped - some avatars didn't survive the transition, and we're still having issues with attachments that weren't added as inline images, but we're hoping to have that all sorted out soon.

I'm new here...

Hi Rob, we are truly honoured!!  :thumb: Now get posting mate and share your wisdom... It will be very much appreciated.  :coffee2:
The hono"u"r (see, I'm already learning) is MINE. Actually, as CG is run by a Canadian, the extra "u" is not so strange. Thanks to you both for the warm welcome. A nice touch.

Your  effort to learn the language and use correct spelling is much appreciated. You might wish to check out  the 'chat box' on the forum main page (if you haven't already done so). It can get quite lively at times although not all the chatter is coffee  related.

Thanks KK, Yes, I will have to travel to Indonesia in search of working opportunity. I have been out of work for sometimes, and I have decided to move back to Indonesia. Who knows I'll get a job there. Anyone knows where to get a good coffee in Jakarta? I might have to learn to roast my own supply  :D
  • Hi all, I'm from Sydney's Inner West, I've been in to coffee for about 4 years. Started with a Breville Ikon and Sunbeam EM0450. But the Ikon bit the dust last week after serving me well (amazing value in my eyes & I was getting some good coffee from this machine). I have purchased a brand new Rancilio Silvia, just waiting on delivery & have been looking for information on my new machine and happened upon this site. Seems like a good source of info and discussion so joined up. Look forward to chatting with you guys.

Welcome euaneggss to the Crema forum Just start posting your questions about your new machine and the comments in answer will naturally flow KK
  • Welcome euaneggs. Good to see we spell our names differently, avoids confusion. Ewan (or UN for easier typing)
  • Good day everybody, My name is Scott.  I'm a coffee addict (so I think I'm in the right place), as well as an amateur travel photographer and blogger on my website:  www.ThatsMyCoffee.com    (Not a commercial venture.  Won't try to sell you anything!) My gear includes a variety of mocha pots, french presses, a siphon pot (my fav way to do light roasts!) and a Gastroback (Breville) "Pro G", single boiler with integrated grinder.  Just enough that my wife complains about all the space it takes, but honestly I'd love to grow my collection 5 fold... I confess to having a Latte most mornings.  If I have any good light or medium roast south/central american beans on hand, I'll do a siphon or french press in the afternoon.  Failing that, a long or short espresso. I'm a Canadian expat now based in Europe, but I travel extensively for work.  I'm a resident of Poland, but currently staying in the Czech Republic. Nice to meet you all...
  • A very warm welcome to the Crema forum You will feel you are amongst friends on this site so keep on posting As a photogtprapher we also have a section for your talents as well KK
  • Hi there, Its been a while since I've visited here, bean(haha) a little pre-occupied setting up our mobile van...now that its all up and running and totally finished...thought It would be a great idea to share some photos with everyone and get some feed back on what you think...
  • Hi Sub-Ju,  this looks awesome.  If i saw this van parked and serving coffee I'd be quick to line up! Thanks for keeping us posted.
  • Hey thanks for the that...We have a few lining up now...haha...have started to establish a bit of a regular run, and our customers seem to be very happy with the service and are loving the coffee...We sourced everything locally to deck the van out and use a local bean supplier too...so  in return the local businesses are only too happy to support a true local business aswel..Been on the road for nearly 2 months now and things are starting to pick up which is great..
  • G'day people... long-time coffee addict, and Old Smokey at CS ( same handle: Lizzi). Seen quite a few familiar names here, and since I (again :) ) have time to monitor a few sites, thought I'd become a member. I'll make/drink  coffee any way, anywhere... but unfortunately it has now been restricted to AM only... :( Dabbling with a bit of commercial roasting, with a GreenBean 600gm roaster; very local clientele only... good fun though ;) and a worthy successor to the roasting while travelling we did when touring AU ( see CS: 'Coffee on the road') Gear: currently Alex Duetto , MD4, Zassenhausen Turkish grinder for the Avanti Plunger and Old European Chimney drip-pot. Looking forward to once again quietly sitting with the laptop in the evenings reading interesting stuff from people who know a lot more about all things coffee than I do! :) L
  • A warm welcome Lizzi to the Crema forum You will find us more laid back here, so get to posting so we can al prisoner from the content KK

  • Hello, I'm new too. I live in Albany, and saw a Diedrich Roaster at our local roastery(?), while buying what I think must be the best cup of coffee I've ever had in a shop. I love coffee, and like to learn about new things...So I thought it would be a good idea to roast at home, and started reading, eventually landing here. Seems there is a lot to know! A  Behmor and some beans are on their way from somewhere far. So I need to learn fast. Any advice (probably already given to others and in the archives) therefore appreciated! Is there a book? Janlab
  • Welcome Janlab to the Crema forum  :thumb: A few members use the Behmor roaster and I am sure they will help All you need to do , Is ask KK
  • Welcome Janlab!  I'm vey glad to see you here ;) Enjoy this great and relaxed forum.
  • Thanks Brett, KK, Looking forward to read a lot and chat. I'll be asking lots of questions, sorry..., but thats how I learn. Sure they have all been answered, but to find them would be a mammoth task in such an active forum! So please bear with me, and just direct me to the right place if necessary! Jan
  • Hello Everyone! I'm new here. I live in New Jersey, USA. Been loving coffee since I was 19, that's 30 years ago and can remember my Dad drinking instant coffee when i was a child. I bought my first drip coffee maker then and converted him. I have a hobby coffee roasting business call Joe's Famous Coffee, mostly friends an family buy from me.  I don't say this to advertise, just that it's part of who I am and what I do. I have had a small computer business in the past. I recently got laid of after 21 years at a semiconductor company. I have not seriously looked for a new job, but have been working as a handyman since the layoff. I am involved in real estate and have a few rental properties. But my true love is coffee. About 15 years ago I began roasting my own coffee at home. I was on a search for the best coffee I could find at the best price. I used to think that some of those store bought canned coffees were the best until my search began. By chance, I stumbled upon a web site much like this one that talked about roasting green at home for the best coffee ever. Being scientific in nature and willing to try new things, I bought some sample greens, roasted them in a frying PAN, and I was hooked. Anyway, Hello again everyone. I am happy ro be here.             ~Joe

  • Hello Everyone! I live in Spain. I started with a French Press, then moved onto a Mokapot with a Compak K3T and have recently upgraded to my first espresso machine. I hope to learn a lot about espresso and home roasting. Cheers from Spain!
  • Hola 14g A warm welcome to the Crema forum We all learn from each other we are all special members KK
  • Hi, My name is Alf. I'm from Holland and have been making espresso's for over 20 years now. I've owned a pretty large number of machines but the last were a Quickmill Andreja, some Ponte Vecchio's,a Strega and now a Izzo Pompei which I consider to be the best I've ever owned. My current grinder is a new Mazzer Major. Greetz Alf
