Here's a picture of a big lump of fossil wood that I've just finished polishing. Specimen is western Queensland-ish.... iPhonograph until I get some time in the studio.

Thanks guys. The wood was polished on the vibrolap starting at 220 grit and finishing with tin oxide on linoleum. The shine is like a mirror... I'm chuffed because with petrified wood you don't really know how it will come up until you try. Now I'm off to C-man's Island!!

Here's a pic of an old miners cottage out at Moonta Mines, about a kilometer from home. Lots of photo ops around here, I really should get out and do more. :-[
