Taste and definition of a darker roast is subjective. What I like may not appeal to others. My definition of a darker roast may differ to yours. I do not seek dark, oily beans which I consider a charcoal roast, but prefer coffee that has been roasted sufficiently to develop body and tame the acidity. Highly acidic and bright coffees are not what I like for espresso. Mycuppa (Jeff) roasts for espresso. If it is a lighter roast, then it is clearly identified. The best course of action is to contact Jeff directly via the website, and state your preferences. He will then recommend a suitable product. I have purchased from Jeff and enjoyed it immensely. I regularly enjoy his coffee when I visit a colleague, who swears by it. Friends and relatives regularly buy his products, and speak highly of it. You can be assured of a quality product. Have a read of the newsletters on his website, it will provide an enjoyable (and educational) insight into the realm of coffee.
