Gonzo

Yes but is their coffee double brewed? (I'm going home now and have me a double scotch). G. ah, I know its after 3, but does your bar operate, like, on 16 or 18 bars?

Hey - Patrick - I think you've just attained immortality - the 'doesn't matter how stupid or trivial...'idea only counts for Friday afternoons - this one's truly pathetic, but it's not Friday! -A

Reschsmooth

Thanks Admin! Having attained immortality, I now have the quinella - Immortality & Immorality! Friday afternoon/Monday morning, surely one's brain is often operating at the same capacity at those two times?? P

admin

Hey guys - anyone think they can get a pic of Jennifer Hawkins' sarong (or lack of) by 3.00pm? If so, promise I'll find a way to post it, to the benefit of all members! -A

Oh, and big cheerio to Fresh for the 250gms of beans as my prize for the last comp. I had to rush to finish 500gms of other beans I had there. Beautiful roast - I made machiattos (sp) last night, and they had a great bitterness which was perfectly balanced. Very good. ;D P

Patrick just letting you know the p-now is excellent, will sort out the $$$. However, the syrah, is also shining. JD

John - thanks for the heads up. Are they cleanskins? I will email you offline for further details. P

Hi guys - I know it's a bit late on Friday, but if you've got the time, there's an interesting discussion on Crema magazine on Coffee Geek (a site for those who like to think of themselves as coffee purists) - might be interesting to follow the thread: http://www.coffeegeek.com/forums/worldregional/australasia/81337#81337 Cheers -A

FreshCoffee2

You're right it is a bit late... but I did read the thread as you recommended I should... all 6 pages... I well remember someone from another forum a little while ago saying they though that we in this forum were (or that this forum was) ..."lightweight"... ! and before I hit the sack I would like to say that you are going to have to believe me when I tell you (because you cant see me) that I am shaking my head in disbelief... at all the "lightweight" nonsence... being bounced around in the thread on Crema in the coffegeek.com site... by some people who are taking themselves far too seriously... ...writing vitriolic irrelevant opinions... on topics that are outside their own spheres of expertise... and apparently having nothing better to do... ... If drinking or professing to be "seriously" interested in all things coffee does this to some people... ...they might consider giving it up. Goodnight, FC.

OK guys - John D. from Coffeetraining.com has very kindly offered another great prize...now taking suggestions as to the next competition - any ideas? Admin.

how about the best coffee photo!!!

admin

Actually PAB, that's a pretty good idea - we will run a Photo Comp. beginning Friday (5th Nov.) to run for four weeks - ie until Friday 3rd December. Entrants can send in a pic, preferably digital (around 30-50kB file size) of anything coffee-related, and John (from Coffee Training Centre) and I will judge. Winner will receive a fantastic tamper from Coffeetraining, but all entrants will have their pic displayed on PICS/Fun Stuff for minimum one week. Entries to be e-mailed to info@cremamagazine.com.au with subject: 'Forum: Coffee competition'. So fire up those digital cameras folks! Admin.

Since it's well and truly after 3.00pm this Friday, I'd like to announce the inaugural cartoon of a series that we're going be running on a monthly basis. They're by a young guy called Alex Hallett, operating out of NZ, and I think they're great - take a look on PICS/Fun stuff on the menu bar on the left! -A

Hi guys - would like to advise that the Photo Comp has now officially closed and judging will take during the week - with the winner most likely announced next Friday on 'Bar open 3.00pm. Hi guys - well, the photo comp. was very close in the end almost a dead heat between Luca and Corey. In the end, the judges went for Luca. Luca, please can you contact John offline (john@coffeetraining.com) and advise him your preference of tamper - either the polished aluminium 58 mm Tamper or the whopper shiny 100 mm weighing in at 2 kg and 13 cm high! He will then arrange this to be posted out to you. Thanks to all those who sent in their pics, and congratulations to Luca (see his pics on PICS/Fun stuff)! Cheers Admin.
