I must say I'm intrigued by this roaster and would love to get my hands on one to play with - but for now I run two Behmor Plus coffee roasters side by side and I'm.vwry happy with the results that I get from these shows up toaster ovens !

I have up waiting a while ago and purchased a JYR 1kg gas roaster. Happy with the results I'm getting and I can roast back to back to supply the local cafes with it Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

One would hope so! I've been following the owner group on facebook and it seems there has been a few bugs in assembly, poor efficiency of cooling etc. I recommend it to anyone considering the roaster as it also has community hot-fixes for these issues...

Just under a year since I placed a preorder for it and I'm hoping it turns up sooner rather than later. Buy as K Bean said, hopefully all the bugs have been worked out and I can use it without any dramas. In the mean time I may have to go and get some filters for the Hottop and give it a good clean. Not sure if it's patience, or a shear bloody mindedness! That or the fact that a 1kg roaster would be a bloody handy size for me 🙂

If you're roasting for home why not save $4kish and get a Behmor... ?

I think the issue is that many folks want that bit of extra capacity. You know the deal... you start roasting well and peeps say: "Wow! I pay eleventy billion dollars a kilo for beans from a professional roaster who has had years of training, experience and commercial success; but, yours are so much better. I'll take a regular order." Now, in fairness to there are some innovative home roasters who deserve a nod but I've tasted plenty who should be thinking less about pumping out the beans as a sideline and more about the taste, quality and control. With that I agree with the Behmor and for those who need a bit more volume like Pat two Behmors 🙂

That's exactly it Brett. Capacity is the goal with this one. Plus more 'true' controls (airflow, drum speed) and a solid drum for conductive heat transfer, rather than the radiation offered by the Behmor*. I honestly am itching for this to arrive, my KKTO has been great, but when you're roasting up to 4kg a fortnight in 500g batches, and not quite hitting the mark on those subtle profile tweaks, it's starting to become a burden rather than a joy!

Yep! In your case then it's a must! I'm not anywhere near your level of care or finesse so KKTO is fine for me for the moment. One day perhaps more. Until then I'll live vicariously through you mate so you must promise to review her when she arrives 😉

I hope this roaster gains momentum, and gets perfected over time, as it would be the next step up from the KKTO. Having said that, my KKTO is pumping out lots of coffee, and I am very happy with the results. Lots of tweaking is yielding excellent results in the cup. I roast between 700-850g batches, depending on the bean type, with 750g my base line. Buying another roaster in the foreseeable future is strictly forbidden, so I too am interested in your journey with this unit.
